  • Cheap Z68 Gen.3 motherboard

What's a decent motherboard that supports Gen 3 PCI 3.0 + ivy bridge (so basically the future proofed Z68 models) the cheapest one I can find is this http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/Intel+1155+Z68+(B3)/Asrock+Z68+Extreme3+Gen3+Intel+Z68+(REV+B3)+Socket +1155+DDR3+PCI-Express+Motherboard?productId=46883

    B
ut I have heard rumours that Asrock haven't got a very good reputation for Bois updates. and that is what is need for Ivy bridge compatibility if I'm not mistaken.

I thought there was issues with the Gigabyte boards not being true Gen3?

For cheap, great looking and feature set - The Asrock X4 G3 is hard to beat!
Its a gorgeous board and works great - BUT is a bit picky for overclocking.

If your not going to be overclocking - its ideal.

B3 is a reference to the Intel/SandyBridge side of things, Gen3 is reference to the specs of PCI-E.

Reference to Gigabyte not being true Gen3:

Lack of USB 3 could be an issue...

yea just had a closer look at the motherboard image, it looks very bare minimal, i'll have to find a review on the board and compare it to some of the higher 120-150 range boards as thats my price range im looking at. the extreme3 or 4 look very nice, but its whether to trust Asrock

Asrock is supposed to be decent, certainly my friends with them couldnt be happier.

The SATA performance isn't as good as Gigabyte or ASUS if that is important to you.
