  • Spec me a laptop

Budget of around 300-350, used mostly for photo editing on the go and general web browsing so GPU performance isn't important at all.

Need at least 8GB memory and a decent high quality screen, I'll put an SSD in it myself so not that fussed about what sort of drive it comes with as it will be taken out.

    Any recommendations?

Look for an IPS display, though they tend to start in the upper 300s.
I've not failed. I've just found 10.000 ways that don't work!

Maybe look around some of the refurb companies.

I just bought a laptop for my mum.

      Dell Something
      2.8Ghz i5
      8Gb RAM
      500Gb HD
      1 Year warranty

      70.

I've purchased a couple of refurb dells from the same company, both have been brilliant. Obv can't give competitor details.

I'll take a look. 70 is an absolute steal to be honest.

              I know

I stuck a 500gb ssd in there, so it took the total cost up to about 160-170ish, but still not bad at all!
