    Hi guys,

I'm looking into getting a laptop for university work as I frequently use the campus library but my course uses programs which aren't on the campus computers unless using the labs which are closed weekends etc... I've found a laptop and would like to know if its a good spec for price.

Usage: General internet stuff, programming, light gaming (LoL, WoW maybe others but I have my main rig for this stuff) word documents. But mostly programming for when i need to hit the library.

I'm not much of a laptop buff so i'm not sure on what versions are better etc..

    Specs:
    CPU: AMD A8 6410 - 2.4 GHz (R5 Series APU)
    Res: 15.6 in - 1366 x 768
    RAM:8 GB
    Graphics: 2GBAMD Radeon R7 M260
    HDD: 1TB 5400RPM

    PRICE - 379.97
Edit: Forgot budget if someone knows better, I would say from 300 - 450 but ideally like to keep it below 400.

    Name:
HP Pavilion 15-p144na AMD Quad Core 8GB 1TB 15.6 inch Windows 8.1 Laptop with 2GB Dedicated Graphics
And I believe what i have mentioned is in line with Aria's rules about competitors etc..
    Thanks.

Edit: Also forgot, I'm not sure but if this seems like overkill for my needs i'm sorry. It's mostly because I've used my sisters laptop which cost around 200- 250 and it drives me up the wall how slow or long it takes to do things so I thought a decent CPU will relieve me of this.

You can get a HP Pavilion with the AMD A10 APU, 8GB ram and 1tb, 2gb hd8670 gpu, hard drive for 420.

    Added after 3 minutes:

Or a lenovo g500 with core i3 CPU, 8550gb graphics that are integrated I think, 4gb ram and 1tb HDD.

Look for something smalllish I'd say, maybe the Asus TP300LA? Under 2 kg, 13" flip screen, i3, 750gb hd and good keyboard.

The a8 r5 GPU is similar to a 7470m where as the a10 has a dedicated 2gb 8670m and its much better.

        Look on notebook check.

Great suggestions, however i dont think 4GB RAM is ideal for me when i use multiple windows for my coursework, programs etc.. also spec wise for the first one it came at out exactly the same as the one ive mentioned which is reduced from 440 to 379.

Another great suggestion, but its my fault i should have said i'm not looking for anything smaller than 15.6" and that's just because i like to have my programming on one side open and then my word document on the other and 13" would make that really small.

Sorry for being really picky with this, it's just im looking for something that will last and i know i wont regret buying in a couple months time. But i really appreciate you guys giving me other options etc..

Spec wise the A8 and A10 aren't the same.

The R5 GPU in the A8 won't play much at all, the A10 R6 8670m will.

            http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-S....122644.0.html

            R5 128 shaders.

            R6 384 shaders.

              http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Rad...M.87211.0.html

But wouldn't i be using the R7 M260 not the APU on the one i mentioned? or am i going about this wrong?

              Thanks
