We all knew Vega was coming, but it is a matter of when. Q2 should be the time if I remember rightly from what I was reading earlier.

Yes rumour is Q2 for slower HBM2 Vega 10 (Normal 1080 competitor), with faster HBM2 version coming later Q3/Q4 (1080 Ti competitor).

is the 490 going to be big vega or xfire babies on a stick?

could it be the reason for the 1080 starting to go on offer under 500?

stay tuned till the next episode of, constant gpu releases, to find out

I thought the 500's later this year were the big cards and the 490 was the bottom end of the top end cards, if that makes sense?

Remember how I said the slower HBM2 Vega 10 would come first, well theirs leaks out now showing it beating 1080 in compute at least.

            http://www.tweaktown.com/news/56645/...sts/index.html

They elude that faster Vega 10 should be able to beat the 1080 Ti Nvidia just launched.

According to the latest benchmarks, Radeon RX Vega has been spotted with 4096 stream processors and 8GB of HBM2 on a 2048-bit memory bus (half that of the 4096-bit memory bus on the Fury X, so we could be looking at 'Little Vega'). The benchmarks teases some impressive performance, with the SiSoft benchmark showing 9414Mpix/s of half-float GP compute performance - versus 7551Mpix/s on the GTX 1080. The same dominance is there - right through to double-float GP compute performance on this version of RX Vega with 806Mpix/s compared to the GTX 1080 and its 565Mpix/s in comparison. Now, if these are results from 'Little Vega' and it is able to beat the GTX 1080 - then 'Big Vega' which is due out soon after, should destroy the GTX 1080 Ti. Maybe AMD were playing their cards safe to their chest earlier this month, not wanting to play their hand against the GTX 1080 Ti - and that they do have a monster in store for us all.

              previously on, constant gpu releases....

it appears like the prosumer, frontier edition, vega card aint great at gaming

but it trades blows with pro grade, gpgpu quadros that cost twice as much....

looking about it seems to still be lacking the tiled rasteraiztion, which gave nvidia a great leap in performance when they started to use it on the 900 series of gpu.

so have amd gimped their gaming ability to keep their cards closed to their chest for the rx cards?

have they really done a deal with apple to do hardware for the new macs and till they come out there is no consumer vega for pc?

stay tuned till next quarter to find out
