  • Monitor goes blank but has a signal.

    Can anyone explain this?

It goes blank straight after I login. I even came back to to the pc after dinner and it did it while I had a few programs open.

I've checked the monitor on a different source and it's fine. Other than that could it be driver issues?

    Thanks

Running sli and I've taken one card out and tried them both. Looks like one runs in windows fine and the other just makes the screen go like above. Is this the signs of a dead card? 😔

So you've tried them both individually and only 1 does the blank screen?

Wouldn't hurt to see if you can boot in safe mode on the dodgy one or maybe completely uninstalling the drivers and any overclocking software you may run like afterburner with the good one in then trying to boot up with the faulty card.

Finally you could try the potentially faulty one in another machine if you have that option?

        Yes both tested individually.

Struggling to download previous drivers for nvidia at the moment think from the top of my head it's the 373.03 drivers.
I'll run safe mode and uninstall drivers and see what the dead one does.

        Cheers

Works fine in safe mode. Reinstalled drivers that worked fine before and it's Done it again straight after I put my password in for windows

If both are working individually its pointing to a software problem I would imagine.

If it were a faulty PCI-E slot or SLI bridge I would have thought it would be fine in desktop and only games would have issues. Can you boot into safe mode with both in SLI and see both cards in device manager?

The one that's doing the screen blanking is booting into windows in safe mode but not normally.

And the other one boots fine in both modes.

I'll put both in and boot into safe mode and see if device manager shows. Cheers

Ok I managed somehow to get by the password screen without it blank screening however it's sluggish and has now crashed...

                    Restarting.

Something isn't right. When I go to enable sli the system crashes. Any clues?

Got to say its looking like a dead card

Any chance you could try it in a different system?

Does sound that way unfortunately. I vaguely remember having similar problems with my SLI rig (a long time ago, 7900GS cards).
Why did the chicken cross the road?

It sucks don't it. The amount of money you spend on them you would think they would last enough so you could upgrade and sell them on. There a pair of GTX 670 ftw edition... good cards. At least I got one I suppose.
                              Cheers guys
