Need an audio input hub

Hello all,

Due to my monitor's crap sound input and output system (that makes an unbelieveably large amount of background static), i'm looking for an audio input hub of sorts.

It needs to:

Take sound via HDMI (for my xbox360) and needs to take a 3.5mm cable from my PC.

Any suggestions about this? Doesn't help that I don't actually know the right term for it

From a quick look, it's seems like quite an expensive option. Would there be any way to reduce background static perhaps?

I'm assuming its only on the PC output, in that case using a shielded 3.5mm audio cable should help significantly.

I did get background from my HDMI input as well unfortunately. Also, my cable isn't at fault; I made it use the pass-through on my monitor which made background static; I then put it between my machine and my headset front speaker connector and there is now no background static at all...seems to be my monitor.

Got my dad one to use via the optical out on his TV so that he can use wireless headphones and not have to deafen the neighbours having his tv too loud.
