Found one of these going cheap. Is it ideal to be used in a gaming pc

  • #2
They're very good CPU's especially if you get a good overclock on them, the newer games are starting to like their HT quite a lot in my opinion so they are very solid processors, quite a few of the members on here still use them in fact. But the motherboards are sky high in price for some reason which is a shame because I'd quite like a 1366 system myself to be honest.

and don't skimp on a decent cooler for the 920 though, they do run as little room heaters compared to the newer generation

Out of curiosity, anyone know why they're still going for so much?

because still good chip's which are in demand, but it's harder to source motherboards so price remains high, supply an demand at work

Aww fair enough, is a shame, would happily accept the performance drop from my setup to own 1366.

Haha fair enough mate, you could probably get back quite a lot of what you paid depending on when you bought it the boards are still going for so much!

exactly, many people feel the same hence why prices remain high no one selling them

Found the same thing with 1156 motherboards... chips were cheap but I could buy a new 1155 mobo + pentium, for the same price as an 1156 mobo.
