  • Bulldozer delayed until late July?

"It seems AMD's plans for a tidal wave of releases this June have been scrapped, with reports saying that the FX Series CPUs (which are based on the new Bulldozer platform) have been delayed and are now expected to be introduced in July."

    More here - http://www.tcmagazine.com/tcm/news/h...yed-until-july

Glad I didn't wait it out for Bulldozer, Id be getting irked right now if I had. Sandybridge must be looking more and more appealing for those still waiting lol

Will wait as long as required. Is 1 month really the end of the world ? My 955 still has years of life left yet..

I guess if your not desperate for an upgrade its ok, I was itching to upgrade was running a 1055t at 4.0GHZ and it was really holding back my GPU. I went for P67 and 2600K when it launched at start of the year and it gave me a HUGE jump in fps up to 60-90fps in some games. 2600K at 4,6GHZ nothing is held back anymore..

Currently buying odd parts here and there for my first build mainly because I dont have the money all at once and if Bulldozer isn't out when I go to get my mobo and cpu I'll just get SB. Ivy bridge will probably blow bulldozer away so no worries with the upgrade path.

The delays are encouraging you to risk your ace Sandy sys

It looks to me like they know the high end parts aren't what they need to be to beat SB. As such they are concentrating on the stronger Llano gear to avoid confusing punters with mixed reviews.

Hope I am wrong as 8 core AMD chips smashing Intel would really turn the industry on it's head. Just think that getting a proper share of portable market with better performing and efficent laptops is what is actually on AMDs radar.

I'm never desperate to upgrade. I will upgrade in due course but my 955 @4.2ghz and 6950 powers everything along nicely for now. I'm more interested in a one of the new mainboards tbh..

AMD press conference is on wednesday mate - we'll now then for sure if its been delayed or not.

PS - Take Anandtech's advice with a pinch of salt - he's well known for being an intel fan boy

while a delay may be likely, i cant see it happening, whats more i cant see AMD announcing a delay at computex as that is pure embarrassing.. imo word on delay it just marketing jive trying to knock it down for the big announcement, though if its delayed then so be it.

Apparently the delay is so AMD can increase the clock speeds of Bulldozer using a new stepping. Maybe this will allow the top end chips to beat 2600K? Source - http://www.silobreaker.com/amd-needs...03990589177958

If this is the case, I'm buying a Sandy Bridge PC.

Xbit are saying it could be delayed until September or possibly even until 2012! Feel a bit sorry for AMD, their high end desktop CPU's launch never seem to go right.. At least Llano is set to do well..
