anyone like a nice game of chess?

    1. WOPR would be found in NORAD base I think
    2. David does, with a backdoor password that was the creators sons name, that the computer assumes as his name later on.
    3. Cool because it had very anti nuclear undertones, with the WINNER: NONE when the computer plays noughts and crosses against itself

      In the film Wargames

      Matthew Broderick played David Lightman

      He used a IMSAI 8080.

It was cool as it pretty much opened up the world of hacking, also when he uses a ring pull to obtain free ohone calls it was proven to actually work.

My local hospital has a sign which reads "This way for accidents and emergencies." Haven't people in hospital got enough to worry about without looking for further misfortune?

                      1. In the movie WarGames, it was a military supercomputer located in the NORAD base.

                      2. David Lightman (Matthew Broderick), and he did it with an IMSAI 8080 microcomputer (and proper old school phone modem - awesome).

                      3. Sod the anti nuclear arms messages - the obvious cool thing was that it showed that hackers can have cred and a genuine shot at Ally Sheedy

This is perhaps the film of my childhood!

WOPR was the supercomputer in the 1983 film WarGames, found within N.O.R.A.D located at Peterson Air Force Base in the Cheyenne Mountains. It was hacked by Matthew Broderick/David Lightman on an old IMSAI 8080 as he wanted to find out more about the 'Global Thermonuclear War' simulation program.

Why was it cool? Two reasons:

                          1) Because it gave us Ferris Bueller
                          2) WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY A GAME?
