  • Deal - UK First - New Tahiti LE chip HD 7870 (AKA 7930) - The "new" HD 7950" !!!!

    Hi Guys,

It's Christmas... and where are the usual new Graphics Cards eh??! Well take a look at this!!

Tomorrow morning, we have stock of the first Tahiti LE based HD 7870 Graphics Cards - Some people expecting to be called the HD 7930.

At Aria only you can get the EPIC VTX3D 2048MB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7870 Black Edition Card with Tahiti LE!!

The price is awesome. So much so it makes current 7870 & even 7950s look poor value for money! THIS is the card you want this Christmas and this is here tomomorrow - just 50 in stock before the New Year. VTX3D are the first to the market with this. No other AMD partner has stock in the UK till after the new year - mainly just the TUL Corporations - VTX3D & PowerColor. Club3D uses TUL as a contract manufacturer only.

The card ships with a GPU clock speed of 925 MHz, PowerTune boost clock of 975 MHz, and 6.00GHz memory for a memory bandwidth of 192 GB/s.

Check out the benchmarks from the KitGURU review which goes live tomorrow morning!

Sneak peak from the KitGURU Review:
“The latest version of GPUz at time of press (0.6.6) won't read the hardware correctly either. This card is not based on the Pitcairn XT core, but a 'cut down' version of the more expensive Tahiti core. This HD7870 'LE' version we know is built from 4313M Transistors (like the 7900 series) and has an upgraded 1,536 shader count. The HD7950 has 1,792 shaders and the earlier HD7870 has 1,280 shaders. In this regard the new HD7870 edition slots firmly half way between the standard HD7870 and HD7950.There are also now 24 SIMD units, up from 20 on HD7870 and less than the HD7950 (which has 28). The ROP count has not changed from 32, although there are now 96 texture units, up from 80 on the HD7870, and still less than the 112 count on the HD7950.The 2GB of GDDR5 memory is clocked at 1,500mhz (6Gbps effective), and the core is clocked at 975mhz connected via a 256bit memory interface."

    Stock benchmarks:

This card Overclocks like a beast too!!

I have to say, I'm very impressed with this card. We we're all wondering when the new Cards will be with us, but sadly nothing new is on the way.. usual for this time of year - probably Summer time. This card is a breath of fresh air.

EVEN MORE EPIC!!! - You can CrossFire with all the HD 7900 Series Graphics Cards too!!!!!

Have AMD killed their own sales now of HD 7870 standard and 7950? - Perhaps so.. It's going to sell like hotcakes!!

    Spread the word people!

I'd almost expect price drops on the current range, but the 7850 is already crazy cheap

                Except it's sometimes better than a 7950

                Paradox card FTW.

Yeah, if you're looking for pure performance per pound maybe but what about all the over things we like?
Aftermarket coolers for OCing and lifespan, noise, warranty, customer service etc...

I knows it. Terb said it wasn't quite good enough to be a 7950, which technically should be correct, but it has been shown to clock higher than 7950 stock, and outperform it.

So really, they're secret ninja 7950's

But you're still going to hit about 1200MHz tops and then you may as well have the 7950?

Mhh, just noticed, 256 bit bus... Going to be starved of memory bandwidth, looks like AMD doing a Kepler to me

Uses more power than the 7950 too.

This is no different from the low-tier reclaimed parts that have came before it (4830 5830, 6790 etc) except int his case, it seems like pants value. 15 extra is netting you a 7950 and a slab of extra RAM and bandwidth.

                            AMD loves filling gaps :-)

There is now an approx 25ish price difference for the key market segment cards.

                            7770 90
                            7850 1GB 120
                            7850 2GB 140
                            7870 170
                            7870 LE 185
                            7950 220

Im guessing AMD needed something to compete against the GTX 660 Ti at a cheaper price.

Plus the price gap is too big between current 7950 & 7870s. The prices you see from us and others on certain 7950s near the 200 mark are not strickly correct as the prices are near or at cost prices. Rrp is meant to be 250.
