So after passing on my old Dell L702X to a gaming friend I decided to plump up for a new machine. Instead of going for a normal Dell or HP and the like, I had mine custom built. As far as I'm aware it is based on the 'Clevo' model (it's actually branded the Vortex III). The build I went for

Pulled the Win8 out of the build and have put 7 on it myself.

A few quick snaps of it:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/cp6y6psk1g...520_184556.jpg

https://www.dropbox.com/s/yq155hz7ji...520_184534.jpg

So far I have been very impressed, I paid a little extra to get the quick delivery service and my machine had turned up within 72 hours of ordering which was fantastic for a custom build (and I altered the default spec too).

I've only played Skyrim, LoL and Mass Effect 3 up to now. Skyrim I've managed to load up with my whole mod collection (it's LARGE) along with every setting on full and it played at 30fps just fine, turning a few settings down and it was running much better at a steady 60!

LoL evidently has no problems running at full settings with very minimal effort on the GPU, my previous machine I could not sit on my lap while I played and even on a tray/desk could start to sound like an aircraft in hot weather, this one is incredibly silent, even running on full chat during the 3DMark bench.

3DMark 11 result: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6599922 P5858

680M benchmarks: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-...M.72679.0.html According to these it can manage Crysis 3 on Ultra at 22fps and Far Cry 3 at around 24fps!

I've been told these machines are much easier to upgrade so I'm hoping in the future to do just that instead of an entirely new machine!

A friend at work has asked me to take a look at his tablet as it won't load past the android icon as soon as the device is switched on. I have literally no idea what brand it is as its unmarked with no company logos anywhere on it. It looks like someone has tried to flash it and borked it but I can't seem to get the device to start up in download mode (volume + or - with home key and power) as it boots and freezes the same as before.

According to the screen it locks up on, its running OS2.2, kernel 2.6.32 (build 1.5.1) - this was a little before I joined the android scene.

Can anyone recommend any advice on how I can tackle this?

I'm trying to work out what might be going wrong with this laptop. It's a first gen core i3 processor that seems to really hate playing back videos. It's been fine in the past and only just started playing up. I've checked the temps (maxed at about 70 degrees) and looked at updating the graphics driver but no luck. It's fine for browsing the web, but as soon as you play a video for more than a few minutes it slows right down, making browsing the web almost impossible for about 15 minutes.

Anyone got any suggestions?
