View Full Version : Sound Crashing Exiting EVE Online
So i've a weird problem - i'm sure it has done this for other games aswell however i've recently re-installed Windows which fixed it
however just exiting EVE there, my sound ALWAYS crashes & loops into what can only be described as a Motorbike starting up lol.
Any ideas? i've updated my ASUS XOnar DS drivers to the latest & still nothing
I had the same problem in all my games when I was using a Xonar DG... A lot of the time it happened while I was still playing too :(
How did you get round to fixing it?
did you remove the card & ditch it for on-board?
could this be caused by a faulty soundcard?

I wouldn't have thought it's a faulty sound card. Have you tried with onboard sound however?
On youtube, every time I fast forward a video, it does a click with my headphones, but without it's fine.
this "click" your hearing , i think i hear that too! :\

It's hard to explain it. I think it has to be a driver of some sort. That being said, this is a 6 year old laptop lmao. Runs 72c Idle, so meh.
im going to take my PC apart tomorrow to tidy up my cables so ill try removing the soundcard & booting with Onboard enabled & see if the problem still persists.
Im pretty sure this happened to me before but i put it on a specific sound quality setting & it worked, however i can't seem to find that anymore.

Well good-luck. Take before and after pictures of your messy cables ey :p.
Yes!
EVE no longer crashes when using onboard sound, so i've removed my Asus xonar DS from my system - shame cause it still works with everything else but EVE lol
Also pictures will be coming shortly of my cable management lol - wasn't much room to work with in my Antec 300 :\

Lmao, glad you sorted it mate. It might just be a software issue?
You can probablly tell the before & after as there was a lot of dust built up over a year lol.

It's worth sticking the pics on this thread: http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php/99883-Who-has-the-ugliest-PC-thread?highlight=ugly+pc
Paha. Love the cooler. Your case has great cable management cut outs.
Jesus, that top fan is horrific :p.
Hey, you have a brown board too. High five. xD.
How did you get round to fixing it?

Yup, that's exactly what I did. Using the onboard audio with windows default drivers (which for some odd reason work and sound better than if I use the Soundmax ones). The soundmax chip is terrible, I just haven't seen an audio card that I'd be interested in. I'm leaving asus cards well alone from now on. I've not liked creative cards in more years than some of the members of this forum have existed...
Can't make my mind up what to try next...
Hmm my old Creative X-FI card was good , & had no problems with it, but i won a Xonar DS from Aria a while back so used that ever since.
Turns out my card WAS NOT FAULTY - all i had to do was simply turn off a "GX Mode" whatever that is - & it cured it. Advice was from CCP (Eve Developers) so they must've heard my case before lol, wonder why something so simple can cause a huge problem.
so im back with decent sound :D happy as larry
Do you not want the rear fan plugged in.... and whats the furry thing called that lives in the top fan?
that furry thing is called dust lol
& the rear fan would mean stretching a peripheral cable from the front to the back & those connections aren't that secure so i risk having it break & touching another component thus causing extra damage - so i aint gonna risk it lol.
