Hello,

I am looking for some help with a problem I am having with my laptop. I am not the best with computers so sorry if I am asking a silly question.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. It starts up fine and runs for about 30-40 mins then the screen goes black. After about 5 mins the screen goes back to normal but everything is frozen (the mouse cursor won't move, can't do ctrl, alt, delete etc) The only way I can get the screen to start working again is if I restart the laptop by holding in the power button. But then the whole process starts all over again.

If anyone has had any experience of this before or knows how to resolve this I would be most grateful if you could post it here.

Thank you!

Install a program such as coretemp and look at the temperatures, could be its getting too hot, and may need a clean out inside.

You could look in your event viewer to see if you get any errors around the time of the crash.

To open event viewer go to start > run > type 'eventvwr' hit enter.

Or it's in control panel > administrative tools > event viewer.

Might flag up any programmes which are causing a crash.

HP bought out a BIOS update...it brings the internal fan into action quicker...DOWNLOAD IT

(tons of their laptop screens were doing the same as yours due to overheating)8)
