Ok so heres the deal - my plantronic 377 headset is on the way out. Recommend me a new one - my only requirement is that the headset is open-ear in design.

I dont care about price but obviously cheaper is always better!

Can't go wrong with the Logitech G35 imo, Awesome headset.

yeah unfortunately those are closed ear - i want open - like to hear my surroundings at the same time - i have no need for sound cancellation

Speedlink Medussa's are open... They're also pretty cheap. Not the best, but I've seen/used worse...

anybody else recommend any?
Need some myself
I wouldn't mind closed ear, aslong as they're cheap. (sorry if this is considered hijacking)

How are the ones at aria?

TBH I'd wait until the new Razer ones come out Dillon, first real 7.1. Might cost a bit though.

If you want bang for buck, the HS1As by corsair are great, although they may be EOL now. The Roccat Kaves are also pretty decent.

Can't help with open ear ones I'm afraid, all the ones I've had in to review or have used are closed.

I have the HS1A they are horrible in terms of sound quality I have used them once. But in terms of a headset for gaming they are fine.

Might get rid of mine actually.

I have the roccat Kave real 5.1 which I would recommend but they are closed ear with measly sound cancelling imo. So they may be ok.

tbh its not the sound cancelling really its comfort - the main advertisement of open ear is the fact theres none of the air pressure bombardment you get with closed compartment designs not to mention the air means your ears dont get hot. It leads to much improved comfort over long periods of time. It could just be me and my sensitive ears but it really makes a difference to me, to the point where i dont want to go back to closed ear if i can help it.

I think my only real option are the sennheiser PC 360s, bloody expensive, but plantronics are the only other brand, they make AMAZINGLY good value low end products (seriously anyone after a <£20 headset open or closed ear look no further i guarantee them) but the £50 supposed 5.1 headset....nah, still made of cheap plastic and looks horrid.
