Afternoon,

Dare I say, we have VERY limited numbers in our warehouse RIGHT NOW! Just not allowed to sell until the official launch!

If you want a 8800GTS, then we defo have the best price around, but be lightening quick cos I think I'm having first dibs :P

And BTW, the card looks amazing, bit smaller than a GX2 but I almost killed one dribbling all over it!

Ummm....good job you haven't got the GX2 or GTX:

I still wonder why on a lot of these cards are bought, since 99% of people don't actually have a monitor capable of resolutions which will stress the card.....

Full review for all those interested.

its the same as always nvidia come out on top in some games / benchies Ati in others. I have made my choice ans don't regret it both are great gfx cards and my 8800 will last me ages and the only game where the ati is streets ahead is oblivion. Both cards will no doubt improve as drivers get better.

Hell 2x 1950's come out on top in a couple of tests.

Do the 8800's need Vista to run? Or can they still run on XP/Dx9? The reason for this is I just bought the 8800 and I dont want to have to upgrade to vista as well. Not until the first service pack is out.

You can run the 8800s on XP without any worries mate, but they won't utilise DirectX10. For current titles that doesn't really matter. Once Crysis/Alan Wake etc etc are out you will need Vista to run your DX10 games with the 8800 cards though.[/quote:cf7f5eb2e7]

Cheers, I'll save some cash aside for Vista then on the side.

It won't though I heard MS are releasing a revamped version of Dx9, though this may of just been a rumour i read on some other forums or the like.

Hi,

Dam, i dont want to use Vista as there will be loads of virus's etc.... that will be attacking Vista.

djdaface
26-01-07, 19:26
I would have thought there would be less in the way of virus's.

As it comes with the latest technologies built in

but there will be tons of spoof issues, drive issues and general fault issues to iron out

New drivers have been released for the 8800 and Vista (and those old OS's - can't remember their names...). They are much better than the ones we did have to use. 158.18 or something (will need to correct me).

Only one issue so far - with BF2142 you need to delete the 2142 folder in My Documents folder.

Apart from that, it's a sweet card.
