This is terrible news.

On the plus side, it makes my decision to buy my hybrid (Honda CRZ) a good'un. [trollface.jpg]

People raged when it went over £1.
We got this far didn't we?
Another excuse for an LOG conversion imo.....as long as you drive your car enough that is

LPG isnt the economy option its cracked up to be if you are converting a car, simply because it costs 2k+ to get it installed as an average which means you need to be doing big mileage or keeping the same car for years to make that money back before you start seeing the benefit.

Great for cars that run on it as standard though, its way cheaper and doesnt rise as fast as other fuels.

As for petrol price hikes, no big surprise there, its only ever going to go up over time so its more a case that the public should complain about unreliable or unsuitable public transport than whine about how they fill their cars up.

That's why I said as long as you drive enough :)

Three words: Supply and Demand.

its like what the famouse jeremy clarkson said : just thank god your not filling your car with bull sperm or something like that , to be honest people that complain about it cant realy move with the times i think, prices rise and fall its life weither its goverment or what it dosnt matter

relate this to the pc market , wd factory drownds no hdds being produced , initial scare with price , but people still buy them

LIFE GOES ON is my main message i tink

prices rise and fall

I think the main issue that people have is, that this just isn't the case with petrol etc. Yes, the WD factory went under, so prices rise and once supply goes up again, prices will fall.

However, it seems that with fuel, supply and demand and the economies of scale dont seem to apply. Supply goes down, prices go up as expected. However, supply goes up and prices stay the same. Its not just petrol, its all fuels. It seems that they are exempt from the rules of supply and demand, mainly because everyone needs some sort of fuel to live - so they can charge what they want within reason.

The only way that can change is if the govt steps in and does something like put a maximum percentage profit that the fuel companies can make per litre of fuel sold. But there's no way that'll happen..

same as gas and electricity put it up 10% following year drop it by 2% next year put it up by 7% and so on

prices always getting higher all the time never cheaper.

Yeah, thats what I meant by all fuel - because we all need it in some form, thats how they get away with it..

Still £1.32 by me at four garages.

With BP posting profits of $15 billion though its a disgrace really, do you really need all that money??

Really, do you?????

I'm sooo moving back to Basra, was $1 to fill your car, granted queues were like 5 miles long for fuel but it was cheap.

Should be considered that about 80% of prices you oay are tax in one form or another, so the government are not going to step in to lower prices really.

As for profits, yes they make a mint, but again companies like BP are subject to massive costs if some disaster happens, they need to keep their coffers full, plus, its business at the end of the day.

I have a 35-40 mile round trip to work every day (varies if I am picking up the kid), that’s roughly 800 miles a month, just to get to work.

I drive a 1.6 petrol and I spend in the region of £200 per month on petrol. I live in the sticks and there are no buses so I don’t have a choice on transport.

Taking into account my salary, if I got rid of the car, keeping in mind the saving on petrol, insurance servicing etc, I could probably be better off at home unemployed and on benefits. I definately wouldn't be that much worse off.

Same situation as you mate. 54 miles a day, so over 1000 miles a month and even on a 1.3 Yaris the prices take a toll.

Yeah your right ,

the government probably wont step in till its too late , although I am quite a fan of the new government ,

So if the government wont step it who will ? , No one we've all just got to get on with life , if its too expensive we've got to find other means ,

Personally i don't find Electricity the way forward, Hydrogen is , but then the energy used to extract Hydrogen is immense as well

Its quite easy to say to just get on with life, but for those people who run businesses that rely on transport, price rises of fuel will start putting people out of business. Its already starting to affect me (and a lot of other people around here as we're a rural area) and consider my options for the future if it carries on. Then you end up with more people being unemployed and on Benefits because they just can't afford to run the businesses that rely on fuel for cars/vans etc.

Theres always the possibility of joining PC world :P

After I have finished my driving lessons I am not sure I will even want to get my self a car as it will just be far too expensive (being at my age 19 the insurance will be a lot plus petrol. weighing up the options at the moment)
