Hi Guys:)

My first post so be gentle LOL

I'n would like the above system but with a few changes if possible.

Could I upgrade the mobo for the UD7 model and change the ssd for an Ocz 128gb sata III?
Also I don't need the soundcard as I will use the 7970s sound via hdmi.

I see theres no 7970s in stock so whats the eta on them?

I've had systems from another place begining with O but their service was poor so I may try Aria:)
Do you install drivers and get the latest updates for windows ect?

Thanks:)

Hello,

We have some 7970' coming tomorrow for system use only so their should be no delay waiting for stock. At the moment, we can only swap things via ringing our Sales Team. You can make up to 3 changes on all our fixed spec systems. Anymore than that and there's a £49+ charge for a custom build job. I suggest keeping the Xonar DG as it doesn't cost much and gives you a great sound experience for games and films.

We install all drivers yes. Not sure on latest updates for Windows. We do install the latest SP1 though.

Sure, you can change it to whatever you want tbh.

Aria don't install Windows as standard, but if you pay for the copy of Windows then I don't see why you couldn't ask them to update it and do drivers and stuff. :)

No idea on the due date, the staff will tell you.

EDIT: ^ solved :)

What Rawz said :thumb:

Imho there's 3 options:-
1) Full system with up to 3 changes, built to order.
2) Complete custom spec which Aria charge £49+Vat to build.
3) Complete custom spec and build it yourself :D

Option 1 can get you some nice savings with the bundles... Option 2 lets you spec exactly what you want or spend the money on the components you deem most important.

If you wish to consider Option 2, post a thread in the New Builds section, complete with budget and any requirements and usage you may have and we'll come up with some ideas for you :)

Aria's building quality is simply stunning - puts my own attempts to shame :thumb:

We don't put SSDs in systems now unless they have been on the market widespread for at least 3 months. The OCZ are great SSDs, but like with all new SSDs their can be some teething issues every now and again.

My brother took delivery of this today.
When he installs the drivers for the dual 7970`s installation seems to go fine but there is no screen flashing as is usual for a gpu driver. When it asks for a restart he gets a bsod every single time and the only way he can get back into windows is by letting windows repair itself. The funny thing is even after the gpu drivers are installed nothing appears in add/remove and if you try to uninstall them through the amd software it finds nothing to uninstall. He has tried both the drivers from the cd and also the newest ones from the amd website.

Any ideas guys?

Spaceboy
09-02-12, 18:32
Might be barking up the wrong tree here, but would Aria have loaded the drivers on for you in order to properly stress-test the rig before shipment ? Might explaing why (re)installing the drivers appeared to not do anything ?

Failing that, is this the driver version you're using ? http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/15798/

Jericho
09-02-12, 18:45
Yep thats the right driver mate but we have tried the ones on the cd too. There are no drivers on the system for gpu even after we have installed them. My brother has spoken to customer support and there is a possibility of the overclock needing tweaking as it could be interfering somehow. However my brother needs me there to do certain stuff for him as he is disabled and his eyesight is particually bad so he has arranged for a call with technical support at 11.30 tommorow so i can be there to help out.

Looks like we found the problem.
The 2nd 7970 is faulty. We tried it both in xfire and on its own in both slots with no luck and we even tried in my brothers old system which has a 5970 in it and still nothing.
Just waiting for a call from customer support to get it replaced. :)

Ouch, hope it gets sorted quick. Sadly anything can happen in transit sometimes.

One thing we advise at my workplace (storage vendor) is when unpacking, leave the system for a couple of hours to "acclimatise". This not only lets metalwork expand (bits can contract at different rates in the cold), but means there's less chance of condensation.

Just saying that even with the upmost care, the simple act of shipping can introduce unknown factors :(

At least you know what the problem is though :)

Unbelievable!!!! now it looks like the main and 1st 7970 is faulty too.
My bro been getting a funny white line across the screen and bsod`s too.
He has tried 2 different sets of 7970 drivers and the problem is still there.
Hope the whole system hasnt got to go back.
Will talk to customer support tommorow :(

Sorry to hear the system is having issues again.

Have you spoken with our customer services?

Jericho
20-02-12, 18:21
OK
After speaking to customer support and through various tests we are hoping this is just a ati driver issue.
Half the time the pc is unusuable because of the weird square artifacting and the other half its flawless.
We are going to give it a week of testing and see what happens after the week is up.

UberJase
20-02-12, 19:30
I don't know what the hell is going on. Its not drivers as even in BIOS the screen is currupted when I first turn PC on (I have to go in bios sometimes to save settings and exit as PC sometimes fails to boot with the o/c due to that whoever built it put a BETA bios on the board). Anyway, once PC is boot the curruption is still there and the display driver fails every min or so until its seems to have "warmed up" and curruption goes and display is fine. Games are fine so far including Witcher 2 and Dirt 3.

I'm no expert but it is possible there's a bad batch of hardware which can happen with early adoption (just look at the P67 sata/B3 issue, and crucial m4 5000hour bug).

I hope that's not the case, but it doesn't seem like drivers, especially as the symptoms change once the card has "warmed up".

UberJase
20-02-12, 19:59
The card I RMA'd last week is being replaced so Bro and I will keep testing with 1, both either/or and see what happens.

There is a new none beta bios but I'm not upgrading as I would lose warrenty plus the o/c I paid for.

Not necessarily, if you drop CS an email I believe they will be happy to permit you to flash the BIOS. Just that they need it in their records in case you ever need to send it back again.

I would still lose the o/c though unless Aria could send me a profile or something. And I hate to do it myself incase the flash goes belly up.

Replacement came for the RMA'd card today and didnt have much time to test as it came late but half hour of AvP and its flawless, will test more stuff tomorrow. Tried AvP and Trine with the other 7970 and both crashed and 6 mins of trine made the PC reboot and the curruption got worse so looks like that card needs to be RMA'd too as so far so good with new card which is a triple fan o/ced model.

Thanks for being so patient and understanding. The 'G MAN' put this beast through days/week of testing to make sure it was right before being shipped out to you.
I just don't understand how this has failed so badly with the GPU's.

I had great pleasure building this machine and to hear these problems your having is very disappointing :(

Hopefully we can get this all sorted ASAP and have you doing what this monster was created for "SOME SERIOUS GAMING". :D

Ok a little update for anyone thats interested LOL
Me and my brother tested the new replaced 7970 all day on various things and not once did it faulter on anything which shows that the original 1st 7970 is indeed faulty as was the original 2nd.
We phoned customer support about getting a rma number. The rma number is being sent by email but the customer support guy told my brother that he would have to arrange postage? When my brother said that a city link courier picked up the last faulty 7970 a week ago the guy said aria dont do that only with full systems but this is what happened a week ago.
As my brother mentioned above it is important for the 2nd faulty 7970 to be replaced with the same oc`ed model the 1st faulty one was as it would default to lowest settings otherwise.
Customer service from aria so far has been fantastic and as brains said above i too hope the last of the problems will be sorted soon so i can do some serious gaming which i have been denied since my own gpu died a month back LOL

Ok another update in case anyone was wondering.

The primary faulty 7970 was rma`ed and was tested and no fault was found.
My brother spoke to a nice fella on customer support line and we pointed out this thread and the pictures in it showing the 7970 at fault. He wrote some notes about the rma and forwarded them to the technical department for retesting.

Hopefully we can finally get round to some xfire gaming soon.

It's a 2.5 if i'm not mistaken so you should be able to fit an SSD or any other Laptop style 2.5 drive. It's all set up to take a drive all ready so just pop one in and your good to go. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it's "Hot Swappable". You should be able to find out with your Case Manual.

Hope this helps :thumb:
