Hiya everyone I'm having trouble installing XP onto my Western Digital 10k 74gb SATA drive. It's windows XP home. my motherboard is the Abit AB9 Pro.

I've read you need to install SATA drivers by pressing F6 during the windows XP setup, which I have done, but it keeps coming with the same blue error screen claiming windows has been shut down to prevent damage.

The Sata drive is plugged into SATA1 on the motherboard which is apparently the intel controller, which I have been loading the drivers for.

Any help would be apreciated.

Nevermind I've sorted it. I was installing the intel controller drivers but when I tried the Jmicron ones windows started to install, go figure. Maybe the instructions are wrong.

Ok so my PC is:

1.86 core 2 duo
1024mb 800mhz ddr2
74gb 10krpm sata
320gb 7200rpm sata
512mb radeon
Wireless setup
gigabyte aurora case
DVDrw

Windows is just installing now, once it's done I'll let you all know how my PC is doing :D
