View Full Version : Razer Mamba vs. Naga Epic
Right, I'm trying to desperately figure out which one of these I'm after.
Both have what I require - over 5k dpi, wireless option, more than 4 buttons.
However, in the Mamba vs Naga Epic argument is:
More dpi, battery life and 4G sensors in Mamba, vs more buttons in Naga Epic.
Has anyone out there tried both? I would say RPG's consist of about two thirds of my gaming, with MMO's being about 75% of that two thirds. I know the buttons on the Naga would take a while to get used to, but do those who have one/have used one like the amount of buttons there. There's nowhere near me that has them in stock, not to mention I can't find the time to go and try one. So the decision will be purely based on other's opinions.
I've used the Lachesis for years now and quite like it, but I'm after a wireless option for when I need it and thought I might as well get a decent one.
Any thoughts?
I can fully recommend the Naga, I have the original and absolutely love it, the buttons take 3ish days to get used to and for me its only really easy to use 1-6 but this made a huge difference to me for WoW, I went from struggling in pvp on my warrior with never having enough keybinds to suddenly being able to bind every skill and have them at easy reach.
I have used the inbuilt program to change my middle mouse button the alt key so I now have 32 keybinds available to me without ever having to struggle, for example I have 1-6 , alt+1-6 , Q E R T then alt+Q E R T all on the keyboard then on the mouse I have 1-6 and alt+1-6, that is all the keys I ever need and more besides but if I needed more I could also use shift modifier and then even use alt+shift modifier which would give a maximum of 64 keybinds, if you can take advantage of more numbers on the mouse then me then this gets even more silly!
Also another thing to consider is that the naga comes with a wow action bar addon that is the best I have seem, it is professional, offers a tonne of options to set up bars exactly as you want but also is extremely simple.
All in all the naga is the mouse for the mmo/ rpg gamer but it carries over to others games very well, for example in FPS games I use 1-5 on my mouse for 1-knife, 2-grenade, 3-stun/flash grenade, 4 as crouch, and 5 as prone, this leaves my left hand free for movement only apart from e key to "use" in FPS's and I find that my reaction time using the thumb buttons on the mouse is far, far quicker than when on the keyboard, its excellent for when you quickly need to melee :D
Yup I love my Naga a little too much perhaps :P go with the naga, you will not regret it!
That sounds quite neat really, I mean tbh the Mamba looked nice, it was slightly smaller and had less battery on wireless but didnt have all the buttons.
I'm being swayed towards the Naga by my mate as well atm.
Have a friend who would definitely recommend the naga, i know that much.
If you're MMO'ing, i'd say go for it to, however i confess i haven't used it myself.

My twin has the original naga and I have the lachesis which is a similar shape judging by the pictures of the mamba, I completely dislike the naga, its so big and just doesn't feel right for me, now my twin likes it however I just don't, I much like the shape of the mamba better. It comes down to how it feels for you, as when I brought mine they had them in shock in my local pc shop so I got to have a little play with one. If you play MMO games the naga is perfect, however if you are like me and don't really need the buttons at the side the mamba is a much better choice imo which the wireless is a good feature in my eyes when it comes to every day use.
Yeah I've had the Lachesis for a few years now and whilst it's a good mouse im after a wireless option. I'll go with the naga and if I don't like it I'll switch to the mamba.

You think the Nagas big?!? I think its a very petite mouse myself, weird.
I think that's because of the size of the Lachesis, which is much smaller.
I find myself using the sidebuttons on my naga all the time, DoW, Skyrim, Fallout, I'd be pretty much lost without it. Brilliant mouse though, if it breaks I'm going to get the wireless version.
