you formatted HDD in FAT32?

sounds like either the hard drive is knackered or has become disconnected. Open it up check the cables, turn it on, if the hard drive spins up but is not detected it may just need formatting thru windows, if nothing happens then RMA it.

How is the disk formatted? Ntfs/Fat32 etc?

Best thing to do would be reformat it as fat32 then retry.

It might be glitchy firmware.

my media centre requires FAT32 or it doesn't work. Is there a limit on HDD size with Fat 32? or with media centres in general?

There should be a CD that came with the drive, try using that to reformat the drive.

i tried to upgrade firmware but because of the message on the screen saying NO HDD DETECTED it wont let me go to the setup section or move anything on the screen.

is there any way to upgrade firmware through Windows?

really simple one, but when you connect it to TV, do you remove the USB cable you used with the pc? If you leave it in on some media players it leaves then in external HDD mode and media player isn't available until you unplug the usb cable!

Yes the USB cable is unplugged when connected to the TV and still same message

Hi I had same happen me. do not copy avi files with dots or dashes or anything other than letters as for some reason these dont show on media player example change Green.Street.Hooligans.2 (2009) (bestdivx-hooligan) to Green Street Hooligans 2

Just sent my Media Player back for repair or replacement, mine was showing exactly the same symptoms, ie worked fine on USB to PC for file transfer, but 'NO HDD DETECTED' every time I hooked upto the TV and the menu was frozen. So hopefully should be sorted soon as ARIA seem efficient with the issuing of RMA number and emailing receipt of package etc. cheers lochan
