View Full Version : Another possibility for a new section.
What about a section where people can sell on their old / unwanted stuff?
I know this could cause some \"issues\" but if setup properly could be a good way for people to recycle their old pc parts.
Of course i fully expect there to be a big disclaimer at the top \"ARIA CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY GOODS BOUGHT IN THIS SECTION\" or something like that.
It would be a good idea if it was restricted to regular users too, maybe limit its access to people with XXX number of posts or get people to apply or something.
Lets face it sooner or later there will be a post somewhere \"Any one want to buy a.......\" Why not have an official section for it?

Cheers mate, have seen it on 1 or 2 other forums, so can't really take credit for the original idea, and it seems to work well, no issues (well there was 1 but it was a case of mistaken identity some guy with a very similar user name on another forum ripped another guy off who kicked up a stink blah blah).
I know what you mean about sellling / buying to forum regulars i have bought a few things from other forum users and never had a problem, i have had more problems buying from ebay  .

No one else got any views, either way, on this?? Come on you must have some old parts kicking about that are no good to you but might be of use to someone else, why not sell them and make a bit of £££.
Hi Mac, how about www.ariabay.co.uk :)
Buy It, Clock It, Sell It!
I can almost small that nice warm court summons fresh on the fax machine....
Dont see any harm in posting your old stuff here... i think the only rule should be... That the replacement part must have been purchased from Aria.. hehe, invoice number in bold on the top of the post pls!
Best seing what lucy says first though, shes playing a key part in marketing do's and don'ts...
I seem to remember that we had something like this a year and a half/two years ago, can't remember what is was called ( Drank way too much on Friday night )
I'll dig through my emails on Monday
PM'd Lucy regarding this as i might be selling some stuff soon to generate some £££, so we will have to wait and see what she says.
Defiently sounds like a good idea.
I have done alot of business through forums, it can be alot better than Scambay
Still no word from the powers that be  anyone that can make this happen got any opinions on it?
Lucy asked me about this when I came in. I need to get back to her about it, so it is currently on our minds...
Thanks for the update Robin appreciated 8) Think it would be a good addition to the forum.
Hello everyone!
Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you on this, had to discuss with the big bods before i said anything!!! :D
Unfortunately, it's a no at the min. Some proper rules would have to be put into place... Mayb when our little community extends a little, we can revisit the idea.
Hope that's ok with you lot!

OK - I dont believe im hearing that...
OK your not running that in this site, understandable...
However i saw a site that was meant to be a spoof of 'ebay' called 'ebash' and its looking very good, the guy did all the coding himself...
If someone made one surely you could run this as a subsidary to Aria, say charge something low like 2% commision on purchases under £X, or higher over 200 etc.
Would be good - especially if you get yourself a decent enough Admin team together.
Also you could have a nice domain for it thats nice and catchy, and it should - if you advertise the forum right, get more users in here..
also SHOW the forum on Aria's site guys ? i only found this place on the off chance, so many people who use your site wont know it exists...
*edit* you could start a new crazy - using the free BRITISH NOCHEX (No cheques) instead of the ebay owned PayPal, as they dont charge as much commision, definately a way to go i think.. :P
Thought i would bring this up again as i got a few bits i want to shift, i wont post what etc till the nod gets given officially but i still think this would make a nice addition to the forum and a perk to the regular users IF setup properly.
So Lucy / Aria bods what say thee??
Please say yes i need to sell some stuff to fund a Conroe build and don't want to use the bay of fleas as there are too many scammers on there.

Question still stands though Lucy / Aria bods, can i please offer some of my, still pretty decent  , hardware up for sale?? Pretty please??? :D
Hey Mac..
Once again, I must say that I need to speak to a couple of people before I give you any kind of answer on this so please be patient with me... I'll speak to Robin this morning and see what we can do! :D

What about, adding to your sig >>> PM me, to see my for sale list...that way all transactions stay on a user level and do not concern or conflict with what the forums initial purpose was or have any bearing on the legalities of side selling...???
A sort of do it your self swap shop...thingy.
forums can soon become a weird place when wedge parting interferes.
Just a thought...!
Mighty...
Could be a way of doing it i guess the \"pm me\" in my sig. My parts are mostly sold now, was my oppy165 and 2gb of gskill if you were wondering.
It works well on other forums so i see no reason why it wouldn't work on here if a few rules are laid down, main one being \"buy / sell at own risk - use common sense and get all contact details BEFORE sending goods / payment\" and \"Aria has no responisibility over 2nd hand dealings on the forum\"
Or words to that effect.

Thanks Lucy, appreciated as always. 8)
What a shame, I've sold things via forums before and found it much more reliable that the joke that is eBay.
I'm trying to sell a laptop on eBay at the moment. Someone bought it via buy it now, then it turned out it was from a hacked account. The person didn't even know their account had purchased it. So I don't get paid, and for my trouble eBay are charging me £13 fees!! I tried filing a disute by eBay just closed it. I tried e-mailing them, they just replied saying there's nothing they can do to help me.
I cancelled my direct debit to eBay and told them if they don't remove the charges I'm going to report them to trading standards.
