Well, every couple of years I end up buying a crappy £30 HP printer/scanner/copier and every couple of years it breaks and now I feel I should get something decent.
Main requirements are built in scanner, cheap ink, wireless printing and decent photo print quality. Budget is fairly flexible, I'll say £150 but can go higher or obviously lower. :p
So, any ideas?
Was in the same boat here mate but have had decent prnters for £130 - £200, same as the cheap ones they break every so often.
Went with a £40 epson stylus SX425W i think
Recommend CAnon Pixma MG 5150 or if you need a wireless one you could go for MG5250. They 're very good printer, Photographic printing is very good and will be worth for your budget. Cheap ink yeah you can get it from online as well.

dude i would keep going with cheap epsons and cheap ink and replace every so many years.
They are designed to fail at a point anyway so it will just save money to run them in to the ground and replace down the line

Is there any proof of that? I'm not calling you a liar or anything, after all I've had the same experience, but it seems strange that review sites constantly harp on about the reliability of certain printer brands if they're pretty much all doomed to fail.

I generally prefer laserjet printers but I don't know how good they are for photo printing.

Hi dude, I know the epsons only have a certain life span as they have a waste tank or waste pads inside them, from when you use the printer a counter starts and when it hits the set limit the printer stops working as the pads need replacing even if they don't.
you can reset the printer with a scc utility that is free.
I have an r300 that has been going for years now thanks to it, have a google

Laserjet printing photo it's ok not too bad on a plain white paper but I don't think you can use photo paper which is thick and glossy to print from laserjet. I think the best bet with the photo printing it's inkjet printer.

Yeah, professional photo shots are better on inkjet but when printing documents and leaflets for ICT coursework I find laserjet so much nicer.
I have to annotate the print out and the ink on inkjet always smudges...
