View Full Version : Graphics card set-up inUT3
Been playing UT3 online for about 4weeks now, with people saying they get 70-100 fps with the same type of hardware as me and 32 players. I only seem to get between 30-50 fps and with 4GB or (3.5 on 32bit XP) as to some people only have 2GB, im using the 180.43 WHQL drivers but I see no improvment, using 4AA - 4AF with force Vertical Vsync on is my card duff or is it fine and the people playing are lying do I need a new card or SLi.

What resolution do you play at, and what spec is your system?
I play that game at 90fps! and above
Rest of the systems specs?
I run it on full settings cant remember what the setting is but its on level 4 in the graphics part, 1280-960 res with 4AA 4AF with motion blur and all that stuff on. I have an AMD 6000 3.1, 4gb quad mode Geil black dragon M2N SLi deluxe mobo with a 400GB Hatachi harddrive...
But it just runs slow from what I have heard lol...
Um unless i missed it you haven't told us what graphics card you have??
Best thing to do is stick a full system spec in your sig, like most of us do, kinda saves a lot of these type of questions.

You wont go above 60FPS with this on, and having it on when you cant do above 60FPS actually harms performance.
Yeah if your system cannot maintain 60+ fps with vsync on it will chop between 30 and 60 fps, assuming your monitor is set to 60hz, which i think most are.
Could be your problem, as i said though we need to know what graphic card you are using.
The Asus EN8800gt 512MB with the silent cooler (the big one) Whats "full system spec in your sig" like said im new to all this. alexnifty (http://forums.aria.co.uk/member.php?u=1824) someone said they where getting 60fps on an AMD 3800 with everything on with an 8800gt, and my monitor is set to 75Hz.
Could my monitor have an affect on games, it's just a hp v72 analog monitor. Checked the monitor settings in ut3 and it says V:60 not V:72 when on the desktop could this slow this down or cause problems.
I would guess V:60 means your vertical refresh rate is 60Hz.. Which would then relate to what mac said :)
Could the monitor be ghosting making the frames seem less smooth?
Using fraps, like on downtown drop to about 30 fps or 30 fps when it gets busy. I try to alter the graphics details and I still get drops in my frame rates, when I have seen reviews of my card there getting 55-90fps with less memory and yes an Intel Quad core but shouldn't mine still be able to handle it. I have overclocked my card to 700, 1750, 1900, lol...
Have you tried disabling V-Sync?
Have you tried disabling V-Sync?
Yes, I have tried everything even lowering world detail to 3 and still only get like 40-50 I just can't figure out why...even without the V-Sync other games don't seem to struggle but yet Half Life 2 slows, Dark messiah slows, and F.E.A.R slows when it should fly.
Could be a virus? What operating system?
Win Xp SP2 32bit but I have formatted my system and still the same I think it might be the card might just get 2 9800gt or gtx and SLi them but test em one by one first. If it's the monitor might need to get one of them first if the games don't sync with the withe monitor maybe that might be it.
As you say, HL2 should absolutely fly, even with all the settings turned on - it does on mine.. What happens if you put everything on relatively low settings? Ie, lowest resolution with minimal options/eye candy? Does it still do the same - try it in HL2 and see what happens. And try that with and without V-sync enabled and let us know the results :)
All on lowest and so, no slow down just seems to slow down in high dense areas i.e the part where you have to move the shipment tank thingy to gain access to the warehouse. It's the same with UT3 turn all the eye candy off no problem, once it all goes on my fps go off.
Forgot to say when the "World detail" on UT3 is turned to 2 everything runs fine even on high res but turn it to 3-5 then the fps drop. Race Driver GRID is the same all smooth the drop in fps is not a big thing but you just about notice then going around corners (again when it gets abit busy) is it faulty or something I missed...
That's rather odd, I have my GRID on max settings and I get no slowdown, and I have an inferior card.
I agree that seems odd...I guess virus? :P too much porn ^^
Yes a bit to much P*** maybe the virus got into my card and F***** it good and hard lol just have to get my self a new graphics card then in the sales and see, Merry Christmas all...
A virus wont hurt your graphics card, you need to get a virus scan done.
I seem to be getting blurred vision on the centre of the screen, in a sort of a circle (typing this some of the text is blurred and outside the affected area is normal), But it clears up after I restart the machine is this reason to return the card.
Sorry retract that still have blurred vision in the circle have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled new ones but still get the blurred vision.
