View Full Version : Athlon X2 3800 (S939)
What's the e.t.a on this processor?
All 939 are going to be End of life by December. if you want em, buy them now...
its a strange thing... CPU prices generally come down... retailers like us kill ourselves to remain competitive and we make no money at all
Then the CPU goes EOL.
Customers whinge, whine and moan about the fact their 6 month old system cant be upgraded...
Then stocks suddenly 'appear' out of Europe or the Far East at a silly price, and we can finally make some money as customers fall over themselves to get one for their ageing motherboards..
Funny old game...
Only in the computer industry is a 6 month old computer ageing :)
So it could be worth me ordering 2 then, whichever CPU I go for?
*Has a think*
The 3800 Venice is outstanding value for money at the mo. I might get another anyway for a spare Shuttle....
I want Dual Core, so if I can't get an X2 3800, I'll just put a bit more out and get an X2 4600.
It's interesting what you said about the prices of EOL CPU's though. 8)
CPUADA4200BVBOX is pretty stable at the mo but once these are gone, I will have trouble finding more.... We have about 30 left and the run rate is about 70 per month... So you can work out how much time you have left :)
CPUADA4600BVBOX is accelerating in sales...might be a week or 10 days before they are all gone...

OK, looks like I can't put my build off for too long. Any idea on which of the 939 Dual Cores will be left longer/easier to order in?
I'm guessing the least popular is going to be the X2 4800.
the 4800 and 4600 Just because they are fairly pricey... But they offer an awful lot of power for not much money..
Im thinking about whacking one of these in my media PC.
Not sure whats more important though, Graphics or Processor.
Media PC's only need average graphics to be honest. Mind you, they don't need cutting edge processors either. But out of the two, I'd say the CPU is more important than the GPU.

On top of this, the 7800 GT has been discontinued by ALL manufacturers. So I can't go SLi, and in 3 weeks I can't go dual core either! Cr*p!!?!?!?!?!?!   :? 8) :!: :?:[/quote:ad3b404a48]
