XFX GTX260 CORE216 Black?
£250?
EDIT: I like how you have already got it in bed with you...
Hehe yup ;)
Still cheaper than the one i was going to get, faster clocks too.
FILTHY! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
ps. what clock speeds?
I think my 260 gtx 216 OC2 BFG was a misprice at £226inc.
CORE --- 630MHz (vs. 576MHz standard)
SHADER --- 1350MHz (vs. 1242MHz standard)
MEMORY --- 2126MHz (vs. 1998MHz standard)
Core 666
Shader 1440
Memory 2300
As for being a traiter well i kept asking when the OCX maxcores were coming back into stock only to be told "VERY soon" and they still aren't in stock. In the mean time i started looking around and found these cheaper but faster than the OCX so i got one whilst they were still in stock so :P
You have the core of the beast...

Will be outperforming the GTX 280 and 4870 1gb quite happily at those clocks
Welcome to the club

Will it?
The result is a card that performs almost as well as the expensive GeForce GTX 280, for much less money, and it even beats the GTX 280 when overclocked! You must carefully search for the GeForce GTX 260+ by looking hard at the specifications, but it is certainly worth the price premium over the original GTX 260.

Want!
Mac: Two things, check ur PM's and have you tried overclocking it even more? Go on, you know you want to!
Maxcore 216 OC version for £209 ex! 8800 **** you know it makes sense!

Seriously mate it is an impressive card. Blows the c*** out of the 4870 in terms of image quality! fan speeds! Heat! Noise! and its heavy as a bar of gold.

Gpu speed 590MHz
Hardly the 666MHz of Mac's card. I would be happy to overclock, but no guarantee I could get that high from 590.
I suppose Macs deal for £250 is rather bargainous!
I'm going to download the FO3 HD texture pack tonight and may push my clocks to match macs.
Going from
CORE --- 630MHz to 666
SHADER --- 1350MHz to 1440
MEMORY --- 2126MHz to 2300
should be achievable!
OMG! Overclock3D.net (http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?/gpu_displays/xfx_gtx260_896mb_black_edition/3)managed to overclock the core to 765mhz, the shaders to 1585mhz and the memory to 1311mhz.
Thats almost 100mhz over the already overclocked speed or nigh on a 15% improvement.
Lol no i haven't tried overclocking . . . . yet. Maybe in a couple of years time when it starts to struggle .

Vantage result, 12.7k. Thought hmm not much better than the 12k i got from my 8800...then i realised that was my 3d06 result that scored 12k DOH!. Added 5K to my vantage score.
We should start a GTX 260 216 signature club
I think my mind is made up, I am buying one of these cards! (found one for under £240 in stock tomorrow).
I think i may also be slowly turning to the green side
I have to say that I do love my 8800GTX and the 8800GTS before it was good too, and my housemates 8600GTS keeps plugging away like a trooper.
Overclocking with RivaTuner is also a breeze. I'm pretty much sold on this.
I think i may also be slowly turning to the green side
I think you can get cream for that :)
I like how we had a minor blip of recommending ATI for a couple of months and then went back to saying Green is best. What fickle fanboi's we all are :p
I've always been green (apart from the X800AIW in my media centre)
The last ATI card I had was in my laptop, it was a 9700M. It could run most games up until Supreme Commander, when it refused to do better than 10fps.
I went totally green when my 4850 gave sick performance.
until it broke LOL
ATI NO THANKKKKKKKKKKKKYOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I have placed an order for one :)
Wanna swap for one of mine mac? I've got an ATI 9600Pro going spare.. 9600 is a higher number than 260, so therefore it is better. :D
Ummmm.............................
Nah i think i'll pass, thanks for the offer though ;)

Mac how do I center the 260 bit in my sig?

I actually feel a bit of jealousy towards my housemate who will be signing for it. I just hope he doesn't work out what he is signing for!
It will be fine if I run it off my xilence 700w for a week or two wont it? Before I get the new psu.
Should be ok :) I wouldnt try pushing it though :P

Except that I cant get my memory to 1066 stable. But I am getting a GTX260 Black so that makes up for it
I will have different memory over xmas.
my next upgrade when I get 64 bit O/s is 4gb/8gb memory.
But to be fair the way games are playing at the moment it might be a long time

I'm going for the 64-bit upgrade now, I have a buyer for all my old kit so the time, it is right.
i expect muchos pics of the 260 tonight!

Yeah I must control myself and do some before / after benchmarks to see what difference it makes.
I'm thinking of benching with Far Cry 2, Crysis, and World In Conflict. And 3Dmark, natch.

Now to run some benches!
Why does farcry 2 have two different ratings on the same disc?
One is the European rating and the other is the uk.
EDIT: There are actually 5 ratings on there.
Coo i have one that looks alot like that

Yeah its really sweet! I can crank up the detail on my favourite games and still have vsync on
3DMark06: 15,910
I think my 8800GTX scored 12,500 ish.
My rule is always, sub £100 and over 5000 points more on 3dmark is worth it.
Quite interesting:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=599231
Indeed, 40 points difference overall, 110 on gfx in your favour which is close enough to make no difference. Either of us could run again i suspect and get that much difference each time.
Overall score is interesting considering the cpu scores.

It was running at 75C during the vantage tests so I guess it must have been at full tilt then!
I can only find my 4850 results and 7950gx2 results on 3dmark 06 ( i think the latest nvidia driver wouldn't let me save the results when i first got the gtx 260 - will re run tonight) the 4850 result seems a little low?

You need to check the box in vantage which says 'Disable PPU' to get a score which will validate.
Just been playing left4dead for a couple of hours, my card hit 77c. That's 17c hotter than the 8800GTX got, I'm glad all the hot air is being blown out of the case!

Couldn't get mine over 64 degrees in Fallout 3, wonder if having the higher clocked card will result in higher gaming temps?
I can't imagine the stock cooled 4850's getting to 90 LOL fried egg anyone?

I think XFX have basically taken the reference design and then overclocked it from there. I assume they have upped the voltages or something and thats why theres so much more heat generated.

It was 06 which wouldn't so need to try again, downloaded vantage but was in XP and its for Vista only so need to try that too!
I used rivatuner to see what speed the fan was set at when the core was at 77c.
It was sitting at 40% duty cycle and you simply can't hear it. I whacked it up to 100% and then you could really hear it working away as hot air was being belched out the back of my machine, the temps under full load did drop by a good 16c to 61c!
I found by turning all my fans down to the minimum level and then upping the speed of the GPU fan with rivatuner that a quiet speed was around 65% which gave temps of 67c.
Not tried any overclocking yet, I don't really need the performance but I might give it a go just to see.

prrfff that GTX260 is kids stuff...what u want is the 8400GS xD
Ok maybe not but my shaders run quicker than the ones on the GTX260 :P
You have maybe 10% of the shaders that a GTX260 has. Its like bragging that your taller than a midget...

Darn I need to read up on gfx cards some more "10% of the shaders on the GTX260" I just thought there was one "clock" that ran at different speeds xD...now i know better ^^
and to Clarkson loving than van/car thing :chairfall: "bargin of the century - hidden talents - its not just me who likes it everybody in the top gear -_- office likes it, everybody likes it" ummm doesn't seem like a bad card :P
Did u know I actually cut my PC case into shape with a junior hacksaw to get the 8400 to fit xD
I do, you did mention it before.
LOL ghetto modding, the best way ;)
ohhh yer, I was abit ****ed off I was so stupid and didn't relise that I needed a low profile bracket card, so my thinking was a TAD irrasional :P
Irrational, i had to do something similar to my Xfi card, it refused to sit correctly in my media center case so i had to *ahem* modify the pci plate with a hacksaw too ;)
