hi there,

I have just recently built a new machine as a replacement for my old computer.

the specs are as follows. ,

asus m2v motherboard running a amd duel core 4200 cpu ,
1x 2gb pc2 ddr2 6400 (800mhz) sdram
1x 500gb pc2 ddr2 6400(800mhz sdram,
nvidia gforce 8600 graphics card
500gb sata drive (master)
320 gb ide drive (slave)
500w power supply (icute)

when i built it up and powerd it up there was no beeps and my termpreture readout was steady on my case monitor.

i had nothing on me screen my keyboard did not work (usb).
my ps2 mouse lit up but did not opperate to change my screen from standyby mode.

i took the machine to a friends we rebuilt the machine. and it started beeping. it was like a constent beep and it powerd down

after awhile we had stopped it from powering down. But we could not stop it from beeping or get the machine to boot so we could enter bios. and prepare for windows instalation.

the power pack went with a pop fusing a lead we left it for awhile and tried another lead on it again and the power pack went bang that time with a blue flash

would a new powerpack solve the problam or would i need a new board and a new power pack

i am on a tight budget and i need a running pc so any help would be appreachated thank you.

first time i have ever used a forum so serious replys only please as i dont i can not afford to waste time and money

many thanks again.

You need a new power Supply! Don't know if it has taken out the motherboard as well until you get a new power supply.

At a guess the psu came with the case and these psu's are massivly over rated and it probably just couldn't cope with the load on it. Fingers crossed it didn't take out anything else with it.

This is the exact reason we recommend decent branded psu's.
