View Full Version : 2 days old and wont power on
HI
I really hope someone here can help me.
This week i bought my 1st self build, every thing went fine during the build.
Last night i decided to try and get teh Lucid virtu tech working, i enabled the iGPU from bios and then installed the drivers and software .
After installing the software a message poped up that a newer version was available so i downlaoded it and attempted to instal, during the install, after removing the previous version, it asked for a restart, which i did.
As the pc tried to shut down it blue screened, the error appeared to be some sort of "stop".
I restarted the pc in safe mode and everyting seemed to be ok , the old version of lucid wasn't there so i restarted the pc again, only when i booted into windows it crashed agian, At this piont i decided that goign back into teh bios and turning off teh igpu featuer might be a good idea, restarted once more and everything seemed to be fine, played a few games and then shut it down for the night.
This morning it wont power on, the power and reset button on teh mobo are on but it jsut wont run.
How do i fix this?
Edit: i think i posted in the wrong section, sorry ! could this get moved please.
so far i've reseated all teh components and tried to clear teh cmos, but still no life!
The power and reset buttons are still on and solid but doing nothing.
Bit more detail please Buster.....can you post the specs of your PC....
Quick one unplug the power lead from the wall and leave it for about 30 seconds...

What have you done to clear the cmos? If possible take the battery out for around 10 maybe 15 seconds, should clear it all then. Strange that it worked fine for a while then suddenly stopped, if possible could you post up what components you are using including the psu, though can't really see it being an issue apart from psu or mobo.
full specs are https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/eFL_jaRY3li8Kh4Q40GY9g,,
to clear the cmos i jsut mover teh jumpers over for about 30 sec.
more things i have done, unplugged power held down mobo power button for +30 sec.
REmoved all components except 1 ram mod, no hhd or gpu plugged in and the monitor pluged into teh onboard vga output.
still nothing not fan whirlling or beep form the thing.
Just a soild red and solid green light from teh mobo power and reset buttons.
not sure if this is relavent, but i had my phone plugged in via a usb cable at teh time and now im having issues with the sd card on the thing, during the crash could it have caused a power surge?
Added after 5 minutes:
i've just taken the battery out and switched the clrtc jumpers over and still nothing
im stressed! not thinking about my typing, but thanks for pionting that out.
Sorry to hear about this, and honestly have no idea what the trouble might be. Double checked power connectors?
Try taking the motherboard out of the case and booting it that way - might be a short somewhere?
Apart from that, I'd suggest phoning Asus, or going through their support forums in case there's a known issue with Lucid. It's still a pretty new tech so there might be some known bugs.
Try removing all memory sticks and booting - you should then get an error beep code (provided you have a system speaker plugged in).
unplugged it went and made more coffee, came back unplugged teh ram, plugged in power but still nothing.
I'll give aria a call now, didn't want to make another post after i realised it was in teh wrong section, maybe someone on the phone could move this.
gutted! and it was all going so well :cry
I there's no error beeps without the memory, I'd try the board out of the case. If still the same then it is most likely a faulty board.
no beeps!
I tried the new psu in my old computer, the old pc's power light came on but it wouldn't boot, same lack of things happening as in the new pc.
I'm going to take the new pc over a friends as see if his psu will power it as my old PC has an intel 945 board and the psu only has one 4pin ATX12v power lead.
What I normally do is remove everything from the case including the mobo.
If the mobo boots with no ram, but with error beeps, good. Then it's just a case of adding one part at a time to do a process of elimination on it. Booting the mobo with each time a component is added.
Teh mobo may be borked or teh ram or teh psu. Teh best way is to ring Aria and get advice first. Teh psu looks like a strong contender as teh cuplrit
