ty tystar :)
I would say it's 'ok' on first impression. Not worth paying £26.99 for though.
It just doesn't feel like Red Alert. I think the mistake EA have made is that they went for a comic book look (lots of things seem to have a comic book theme these days) which isn't what Red Alert is about for me.
C&C and Red Alert always had a vague realism in it's basic units. RA2 and 3 threw that straight out of the window.
Instead of the high tech units being a bit silly, all units are silly. I'll grant you, launching troops from a 'man-cannon' is funny the first time, but it feels like they put it in there for that laugh.
It's the struggle between the sides that drives them to create advanced weaponry which makes C&C for me. Its not C&C if they all have the stupid advanced tech immediatly.
How strange, I was thinking about this thread a couple of mins ago! :)
Tiberium wars is my online C+C game on choice.
Between Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes theres not much EA's C&C games can offer.
C&C Generals offers a better multiplayer experience than C&C3, and that doesn't even count as a C&C game!
Oh well, didn't pay for my copy of RA3 :p
I bought Red Alert 3 last week for the princely sum of £20 (minues 2.5% of VAT), and impressions so far as excellent! I don't mind the graphics, as they're up to date enough, and it runs very smoothly.
Definitely a good game, looking forward to completing it, but I would say it's perhaps a little too easy.
