Bought an ARIA TITAN GAMING PARTNER a week or two back and it has a OCZ 900W ModXStream Modular Power Supply which apparently has leds that glow a brighter blue the more load that is put upon it. The only time it glows blue is when it is powered on, I have run heavy games on it but no change in the led. And now on two occasions I have powered it up I have noticed the fan isnt spinning in the PSU. ARIA suggested that this was power saving when the system is cold ie it only powers up when necessary when the temp is high. Having taken the machine back once to ARIA I was told that it shouldnt glow (which is different to what the manufacturer says when I emailed them). OCZ also said that the fan should always spin up on start up and there isnt any power saving in that form. Anyone else had anything similar to this? OCZ reckon that ARIA should look at it at no charge and replace if necessary.
I had to take the system back as another huge fan at the top of the case wasnt spinning and aria were going to charge me to fix it only a day after collecting it when they discovered the microswitch hadnt been turned on when it was being built. I am a bit wary of taking it back and being charged as the fan is spinning now...any comments from ARIA on this?

Cheers

David

Your best bet is to either email or phone customer services, you can find their details on http://www.aria.co.uk/Support/Contact+Aria and explain the situation to them directly. It may also be useful to get any reference numbers from OCZ incase we have to refer to them directly.

I had a modstream 520 and that glows blue all the time. Not sure why they would make it brighter under load? :O

Hi
when you say it glows blue all the time, is that a bright blue or dim ie you can see if the fan is spinning? And when it first powers up is it very bright for a moment then back to the dim blue? Not knowing what it should do under normal operation its difficult to know if its a sign of a problem. The leds bit doesnt bother me its when the fan is not spinning that does. Touch wood the fan has been fine the last couple of days but I will keep an eye on it...here is the link for the OCZ comments on the fan

most new psu have temp controlled fans, they have a sensor inside which tells the fan haw fast to spin depending on its heat.

when you first turn it on it wont spin as the reading is low and only after it gets warm enough will it send the right ammount of voltage to start the fan.

it saves power and keeps noise down so its good but its also bad as its scarey if yuo dont expect it.

if its not spinning when the system is up and running then i would worry, if its only on power up and then it soon spins up i wouldnt :)
