I've played it for a couple of hours. Seems like Oblivion, but in Africa. Graphics are good, but there's not so much shader use as in Crysis.

Ok there's no sword unless you count the machete, but there are guns. No magic, but you do buy upgrades for your guns.
The real gripe I have with the game is all the driving about you have to do. I seem to be spending a lot more time driving about than actually playing the game. Am I just missing some sort of quicktravel feature?

looking around at others bm results i think my system is haunted.
I found a little offroad buggy cart thingy which lets me cut through the jungle and avoid checkpoints :thumbsup:
Apparently theres also a hang glider to be had at some point...
This game is growing on me, especially after applying the FOV hack. (Widescreen resolutions are actually a zoomed in letter box of a square, like Bioshock).

Marsey, how are you getting such huge framerates?! I set my test exactly the same as yours and got about 35FPS average with 25FPS min and 45FPS max.
I wonder if it just really loves your 8800GTS 512? Or maybe its your combination of components. Either way, its awesome!
i have no idea, i think its a missread as i cant understand why im getting 20 fps in dx10 and 10 times that in dx9, the timed demo looks no smoother either so....im thinkning my box is haunted :D
my setup runs 8x499 1:1 499 5-5-4-13 gpu 755 core 1955 shader 1050 ram 24/7 with my array on 64kb stripes.

Forget the demo fallout 3 is an absolute mustbuy! i am totally addicted to this at the moment. One of the most immersive vast games i've played.
Just found the chinese assault rifle which packs a serious punch and stripped an abandoned undergroun railway station of left behind goodies - on the way back to Megaton to trade my warez for ammunition :thumbsup:
Found the cigerettes are great sellers in the trading city, they are a scarse resource and I found a supply room full of them, couldn't carry them all back for trying :chairfall:

Im going to complete far cry 2 before I buy Fallout 3. I just wish these games had co-op mode so I can explore these worlds with my housemate.

Sounds like about as much fun as trying to juggle water.
one night you play farcry, next night fallout3 ;)
after a week fallout3 addiction takes over and you drop farcry :D
and lose your job and gf then your house gets sold from under you and then you end up working round the back of picadilly station so you can feed your adiction via internet cafe's
o no wrong game :doh:
