View Full Version : DDR3 memory
expensive, no real performance gain, can anyone see themselves making the switch anytime soon?
If you wanna goto the new intel i7 chip wont have a choice though :(
lifts the fsb/ram wall for overclockers over ddr2.

sometime next year when my q6600 can't hack it anymore...
2nd thoughts maybe not ;)
if i could with out the hassle of changing boards i probably would sooner than i am as this boards ddr2 only.
Nope - I'm waiting for i7 and DDR3 to come into it properly, then snapping up the cheap 775 CPUs and DDR2 ram while I have the chance.
Q9xxx and 4/8gb DDR2, and a 4750 (to be doubled up on later) will last me a good couple of years I reckon. Then I can upgrade the board, cpu and ram when the new stuff gets down to the £100 cpu, £60 board and £40 ram levels (or some combo thereof) and upgrade the whole thing to "as new" for £200. Job done :)
Or to put it another way "not yet" (might have been quicker to say that first, eh?)
