View Full Version : Belinea 20\" Widescreen monitor
I recently purchased a Belinea monitor from Aria and for playing movies and games it's fine. But when viewing text (which I do a lot more than play movies and games) quite often there seems to be a colour \"bleed\" :(
There doesn't seem to be an email address for Aria customer support, so I tried sending a brief email (including photographs of the problem) to the sales email address first thing this morning, in the hope that it might be passed on to the correct department. But so far no reply :(

I've double and triple checked the connections between the PC and the monitor and they are fine.
I've also tried the monitor on a second system and tried two completely different graphics cards, an ATI X1800GTO and a Nvidia 7900GT, all with the same results.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks for the advice guys :)
Belinea Monitors ( and many others ) come with a three year Warranty
More information regarding Belinea warranty can be found here

so even though I only bought the monitor like 2 weeks ago, I have to contact Belinea/Maxdata and not the place of purchase - Aria ?
You should have a 30 day RTB with Aria for DOA purposes... ;)

Well there is no reason why you have to
If you would prefer to Return the Monitor to us for a replacement then you can do.
However I included the Links to Belinea as you may find that they can provide a faster turn around, also they may have come across this problem before and have a solution which does not require the return.
I have seen this problem before - are the blue smears random?

More or less, yes
It happens a lot when I'm browsing the net or working with text documents (either txt or doc) and even in explorer(see above pics), but it seems to come and go.
I've contacted Maxdata and they have arranged an exchange of my monitor on the 14th
Hopefully the new monitor won't exhibit the same problems
Thanks for all the help and advice everyone, you guys have been great :)
I am trying to remember where exactly the problem was. It was green smears and it only seemed to affect certain icons - not text. it was very odd. It never affected games or movies - it was only in windows, which led me to suspect that it was driver/software related... i am trying to remember what system it was at the time...
Yeah, this problem has me a little baffled too...
I tried the monitor on two completely different systems before contacting anyone.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo
DFI Lanparty nF4 SLI-DR Venus
2GB (2x1024MB) OCZ EB PC4000 Platinum
ATI Radeon X1800 GTO & Zalman VF700-cu
900W Tagan TG900-U95 TurboJet PSU
and
Intel Core2Duo E6700
Intel D975XBX 'BadAxe'
2GB (2x1024MB) TeamGroup Xtreem PC5400 3-3-3-8
XFX 7900GT 256MB Ver.1.1 & Zalman VF900-cu
580W Tagan TG580-U15 Easycon PSU
The Core2Duo is running XP32 and XP64, the AMD X2 is running XP64 and Vista 64
Both systems exhibit the same symptoms :(
An allergy to Microsoft software perhaps?
Just had thought about this
the Natural resolution of the Monitor you have is 1680 x 1050
But I notice one of the Screen Shots is 1200 x 900
Now I would hazard a guess that might be the problem
Have you set the resolution to 1680 x 1050?
If you don't have the option in Windows try installing the drivers from
http://www.belinea.com/Services_und_Support/Downloads/index.html
http://www.belinea.com/Products/TFT_20/product_moni_tft.jsp?node=121&artnr=112005
interesting thought... my NEC 20WGX2 really doesnt like anything besides 1680 x 1050...
I run this Belinea at 1680x1050 @ 60Hz all the time <shrug>
the screenshots aren't going to be at the naitive res of the monitor they aren't screenshots, they're photos ;)
Screenshots don't show the colour bleeding
Yeah, I installed the drivers available for it when I first recieved the monitor, the only difference I saw after installing them, was that the monitor is now correctly identified in the display control panel
When Ifirst plugged in the monitor(without drivers), it already had all the correct resolutions listed <shrug>
sometimes the problem only shows when moving windows around on the screen, other times it will be glaring me in the face like those photos

What about Clear Type?
Were these ghosting faults without Clear Type enabled, or with? Bear in mind that specific installation of the drivers may have altered the setting within Windoze itself........
Just a thought :P

Hi Qdos,
Thanks for the suggestion :)
I'll try anything at this point :P
The photo's were with clear type turned on, but i've just switched it off and still get the same thing :(
Send it back, RMA the blerdy thing.... and buy a Hyundai Widescreen as per me' own post.. ;)
As u said the screenshots dont show the problem, means that it must be the monitor, was it bashed or the screen pressed hard? Coz that would cause those bubbles of colour.
erm... thanks for the suggestion Qdos, but the hyundai is smaller and has a lower res :?
I'm exchanging the monitor on the 14th, but if the problem persists, i'll be asking for a refund and buying a different brand (although I hope it doesn't come to that)
blaineoliver, The monitor exhibited these symptoms almost as soon as it was set up, it was carefully unpacked and the screen hasn't even been wiped yet
I would think that if the screen was damaged like that, the colour bleed would happen on everything tho <shrug>
Yeh I would agree, but watching video and games wont make the green that visible, open one of those photos that display block colours, that should show you if they stay, or just plain white to see. It seems like an isolated problem with windows. Have you got XP pro or home? Coz home isnt that good with high resolutions or multi screens.
I have XP Pro, XP Pro x64 and the RC1 of Vista x86 and x64, all of them have shown the same symptoms at some time or another :(
I found a little app called CheckeMON, but the test screens seem fine <shrug>
Just recieved my replacement monitor about 5 minutes ago and so far so good, not a single sign of colour bleed and the picture actually seems sharper.
Yaay! very happy now :)
