Hi,

I'm new to this forum and fairly new to PC building in general so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong section or if I'm asking stupid questions.. I've just built a new PC with Aria's i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz bundle and it all went fine as far as I know but I'm getting some pretty high idle temps and I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice. I'm getting temps of between 38c and 50c, which seems high to me. I have an Antec 300 case with two fans running and the pre-installed cpu fan which came with the bundle. I've ordered two more fans but I would have thought that I should get lower temps without those. I haven't attempted any gaming or other cpu heavy tasks as I'm worried it might blow up or something.. Is there anything I can change in the bios that might help or should I just contact Aria technical support.

Thanks for your help

Check the load temps. the chances are the fan is spinning slowly because there is no load. If it blows up its in warrenty anyway, they sent it like that (It wont blow up anyway, just turn itself off)

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I will test under load after I get the new fans. Do you know if it's normal though for temps to be in that range at idle? From a bit of online research it seems most people expect about 30c even with overclock.

As Mr Bond has pointed out, check the temps under load. I wouldn't worry about idle temps around 40°C

Also, what software are you using to monitor temps? Some are more accurate than others...

Hi,

Ok, that's reassuring was getting a bit worried there... I'm using CPUID Hardware Monitor. I'll check it under load tomorrow.

Thanks for your help

Put some more fans in, check if the fans are spinning like 100% or not, make sure the air flow is good inside.
