You can never have too many hard drives!
3TB for £127
Interesting times :thumb:
Very nice mate, if i had known before i could have purchased that 500GB black drive from you. Last time i checked you only had the 1TB model.

The Hybrid drives seem perfect for upgrading laptops...how exactly do they utilise the 4Gb SSD component? Obviously that's too small for installing Win 7...Is it seen as separate drive or does it just deal with cache and pagefile operations?

I think it just uses the SSD part as the cache.
God those are Excellent prices my shopping list is getting bigger

That's what I figured...
Are there likely to ever be hybrid drives as I envision them...with a large enough SSD component for your install and core progs backed up by a big juicy storage platter?

I doubt it. I think the aim really is to just make SSDs mainstream enough so they become cheap.
I can see the benefit right now of larger Hybrid drives though.

I've seen mixed reviews of the XT. Some make it out to be some kind of revolution in technology, others not so much.
But yeah, great price :thumb: 1TB for £34.95, rewind 3.5yrs and it was costing 160GB for a £41.99 HDD :p
I dont really see the point in hybrid drives beyond laptops.

I would have liked to see the hybrid drives using the 6 GB/S interface to really make full use of the NAND memory speed.
I take it for Sata3 you need a motherboard that supports it? Like my currently board i guess uses Sata2? Are they different connections?

Connections (cables) are the same, it's just the controllers on the motherboard / device which differ.
Ah so i would need a newer motherboard then, good job i plan to get one this payday with a new shiny new cpu too eh ;)
The sata3 drive will still work, but it's bandwidth will be limited,

I think they need to chuck a bit more NAND in it too for the price. It is ideal for laptops though as otherwise you are always going to compromise on space without silly cash.
You think 3TB is good? Was talking to a WD rep and he said in the next 2 years or so they'll be hitting 10TB. Although he also mentioned the prices going up due to the damn Chinese buying up all the rare earth magnetic material.
great deals on those drives
