Im sure many people have heard of this before, if not then your a http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5415/noob4ze8kc.gif

A bit about Folding @ Home

Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases.

The Folding@Home project allows anyone with a computer and an internet connection to take part in the search. By using the computer while the owner is away, the F@H client is able to study the proteins and folding related diseases.

What i think would be a wicked idea if we came together and maybe started our own team. Something fun for people to do.

Any suggestions?

If people would like to i could set up a team?[/url]

It is a worthy cause and i have been doing it for some time for another team, sorry i wont be joining Arias team if it goes ahead.

Suffice to say its all in a good cause for scientific research and for the most part you wont even know your pc is doing it as its a background task that shuts down, or slows down, when you start doing anything cpu intensive.

Go for it people and join the cause.

Good idea, i already got a team but it only consists of me and one other, so if you decide not too its sure worth it to use your cpu idle time for a good cause !

no matter who's stats its on, at least its helping..

(i got a amd athlon 2400+ running at 45-55% constant on this project) :)

Gotta help somehow (its originally an FTP server but its hardly used so might aswell make use of it - and the same goes for all you people with big beefy machines too!) :)

Im already involved in a team as well, but I agree its a good cause regardless of which team get the points!

If the aria team doesnt go ahead, why not join another team?

i'll be glad to give you the details of the team I fold for ;) hehe

seriously though, there have been a few people mention that they are part of a team - any of them would be glad to have extra people folding if the aria team doesnt go ahead, or while people wait for it to get started :)

\"New team Aria PC Technology with number 50915 has been founded by matt_2k34

Any client program can contribute to the statistics for this team by putting the number 50915 in the team field
(right-click to configure a client program) \"

Download the F@H Program from the link given in first post - i set it up ready for you all to use, when you configure it, put '50915' in the team number box, and let it run in the background when your online and we'll be cooking on gas ! :)

i like to think that its helping someone somewhere =) and if you join this team, i might have some teammates that actually contribute...

Thanks and please join - =) its all for a good cause, and you can set it so it only uses 2% of your cpu if you want ! - its fully customisable, what i did was turn it up gradually until i noticed it slowing me down, and then put it about 4% below.. =) gives both you and the program plenty to work with...

Cheers,

Matt

Could this be Stickied ?? :)

Also id like to see some real team players in that team users list ! :)

i got two comps running F@H at the moment =)

Lets see who can do the most Work Units on aria =)

Maybe someone could win bytes for it ? :)

Please do have a look - if your not already involved...

Its well worth it...

Will start folding soon ! others should follow- pbest nice score m8 :)
