View Full Version : Anyone used Free Virtual Servers hosting?
Hi all,
As above, seems quite a good package but limited space and bandwidth :(
All the hosts dont seem to have any packages on offer. I dont need a whole lot of space yet, but I do need it to be as cheap as possible.
Any ideas on any hosts with much cheapness? :)
Ive been wanting to ask the same question, or similar.
Good cheap hosting, any ideas?
You can give me £4/month and i'll give you 50Gb Bandwidth and 500mb Space :D
or you could just ask me and ill stick you guys on my UK server ?
Ill stick you on my UK #001 Server http://www.standupserver.com/

Whats the catch? And are you serious?
I need to host a simple website for my brother, and he wont pay for it so i aint gonna
yea sure. Pm me the details and ill give you the name servers and setup the account.
Wont do it till im home though as im not loggin into the server as Root on Uni Pcs, never know whats on them.
Ill be home around 6.
And youd be able to choose your own www.whatever.com (http://www.whatever.com)?
I have some server space kicking about. TBs of bandwidth and GBs of space. Im never going to use it all. full PHP, Pearl and all that :D
So i can have my own domain? like www.lickmy*****.com (http://www.lickmy*****.com)?
Or a tribute to Jon Woad and his punto at www.junto.com?
yep you would just need to point it to name servers and i would have to tell it that the domain is connected to the server. Full FTP as well.
I dont get what you mean by telling it to point to name servers...
ah well depending on where you bought your www. you have to tell it what servers to look for in order for it to convert the human readable address to a pc readable address in the for of an IP. Basically it tells your PC where to get the information. Im possibly wrong on some of that so some could help :D
Oh so you cant create a domain name for free?
Id have to buy that somewhere else.
Yeh 1and1 do then for about £5 for 2 years.
