View Full Version : USB Power overload
Got a customer online who cant use his USB because its saying they have exceeded the power limit, and he only has a printer plugged in.
I just wondered if this is a Motherboard issue or if there was a fix for it.
Normally, the solution is to buy a powered USB hub.. But its random that it happens when using a printer, as that shouldnt really be drawing any power from the USB port itself. Can he try the printer in another port on that computer, and maybe even another computer?
I've had it before where its been the actual device rather than the USB port..
Im not sure what it was caused by, it was in a "dedicated" printer USB port :P
Weither that makes a difference i dont know, I have however seen the same problem when using a powered USB hub
Meh... **** happens
Dedicated? As in it was the only thing plugged into it?
No some mobo's have a USB port at the back with a printer picture above it apparently, never heard of it myself, i think the customer was just an idiot
