Look at the price of that RAM!

12GB for ~£80.

I remember when 12GB would have sent you back £250+

More SSD deals!
I want some HDD. But my case won't take anymore without making vibrational noise although slight but I'm too sensitive for them.

That price for 12GB memory is brilliant! Great 64GB SSD price as well.

Some (all of it :) )awesome pricing there! That RAM is so cheap it's unreal. Just a shame the 128GB M4 isn't on offer, but then I suppose I could do without spending the cash just now ;)

Edit; I should say that you are already horribly cheap on the 128GB anyway, but the cheaper the better of course :)

I'm *this* close to ordering the Proteus U840 https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Proteus+U840+Desktop+PC+?productId=44381

Looks like a great deal to me, and I'll be looking to upgrade later with SSD and a better graphics card.

I'm not a big gamer, so this looks perfect for me. Anyone see any future bottlenecks? Is the PSU going to be a problem? (I'm alright on most stuff but quickly get unstuck on how power gets distributed round my PC!).

Cheers guys.

The PSU won't support an additional graphics card, you will need a new one as well as the graphics card and SSD. The onboard graphics won't play many games either :(.

Surely the PSU must support a [edit:cheap] PCI Express graphics card? I don't want hardcore latest games - hell, I mostly use Ubuntu.

If I did need a better PSU, would it be easy to upgrade with this system? I've replaced everything on a PC before, but not messed about with PSUs!

Nope this is the psu

https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/650W+or+less/400W+Arianet+ACE+Series+80PLUS+ATX2.3+Power+Supply +?productId=44293

No 6 or 8 pin connectors mentioned

And swapping a psu is easy ....unscrew ... Unplug swap...

I'm really thanking you guys, but this is the bit I've never understood.

I've currently got a cheap Radeon HD 4350 512MB in my ancient Dell. No extra power going into the card, but I know the card makes a huge difference because when I switched to Ubuntu, the performance between with card and without was massive.

How much power does a sub-£100 graphics card take (or in that case sub-£40 at the time!)

Want to create a thread and we can help in that save going off topic in the Super specials thread...

steand

p.s. I know all you gamers will laugh at that card!!
p.p.s. Would it be worth paying an extra few quid for a better PSU. I know from recommendations that Aria are usually great at this
[edit] Want to future-proof as much as I can!

Steand create a thread here: http://forums.aria.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=34
and theses guys will spec a better pc for your needs. Then, if you want, you can get Aria to build and overclock it for £49 plus vat.

EDIT: Really want one of those SSDs, hope there is stil some left when I have enough cash!

Yep, I paid £60 for 4Mb to upgrade my P100 to run Tomb Raider better with my 12Mb Voodoo :)

Cheers people! I had a google around and ordered the U840. It looks like a bargain for my (fairly basic) needs. Already prepped a USB stick with Ubuntu 64bit so just waiting for delivery! Definitely a massive improvement on my Dell Optiplex which sounds like a jet engine as soon as I play a youtube video!

I remember when 12GB would have sent you back £250+

I remember when 4 Mb would have cost £65 then went up to £125 because of Taiwanese fire in main memory supplier warehouse back in mid 90's!

Back in days when the good spec for a PC was a 486DX25 with 4Mb RAM and a 80Mb HDD running MS-DOS 6 and Windows 3.1!!!!!
