If your board supports 1333mhz FSB and your bios is up to date then it should do... any ideas on the model of motherboard you have?

why are you going to change your processor? you can just over clock that to the same sort of performance :)

I have 2160 overclocked to 3Ghz, my dad has E6750 at 2.66 and both have the same performance scores on benchmarks.

Can the E8400 be overclocked to surpass 3ghz? I want to upgrade my comp as much as I can to prolong the need to get a new computer in the far future, plus I wouldn't know what fan I need and I dont fancy blowing up my comp o.o if I can avoid getting a new CPU and instead making my current one go to 3ghz I will do that, but I need the right fan, and I know nothing about what I need x.x

you can get the chip you have to 3.2 on the standard intel heatsink just by upping the fsb to 1333 as I have done

Mines at 3Ghz too, but I had to give it a little tweak in the voltage...

Should have bought another MSI neo2 board rather than the Asus board I got :(

It shouldnt be too hard to reach 4Ghz on most 8400's imo, although each chip will be different :) One of the other guys on here is running one at 4.4Ghz, I think :) The most I could get mine to and stay stable enough to bench was 4.2Ghz, but it was a little close to the limit of something and wasn't 100% stable for my uses. Not sure what component it was as I've never had enough time to do some investigating! :)
