hey guys

a bit of a store all starting with this ram

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR2/DDR2+800+%28PC6400%29/OCZ+2GB+PC2-6400+Platinum+Rev+2.0+%282x1GB%29+?productId=26605

a month and a half ago i got the lat bit of my pc and got it put togeather though aria now all was good except they where testing it and there was a mobo problem they stated it could be down to the ram but changed the mobo

the board i had was a GA-P35-DS3R, the board it got changed with was a GA-EP35-DS3R and it all worked great

now this is where it gets a bit strange, my nan at the time of me getting the ram said "get me some for my pc" so i did ended up getting 4gb for her as well as 4gb for mine

now she ended up getting the GA-EP35-DS3R last week and put the pc in for build monday, the spec's are the exact same as mine (apart from hdd, i have 2, she has 1)

the today aria phoned and said "the ram is not compatiable with the motherboard" and stated she would need to get 2x2GB sticks to go in

now the question is what the hell is going on, there the exact same ram (got on the same day) and the same motherboard (got 2 - 3 weeks apart) why is it there incopatiable, it seems daft to me

Who knows? Pc's can be funny pieces of kit, 2 identical systems built with the same components can run VERY differently.

could be things under the skin thats different.

i have 2 sets of matched ddr2 here and in a p35 board they can acheive 1 set of timings but put them in my older nforce board and they will run tigher timings. now logic says that the newwer the tech the better it should run/achive but in this case its the opposit and i asume its because they prefare the nvidia core logic over the intel way of doing things.

the way i see it they must of tested it and have saved you a headache(and any costs for returns and such) so its a win, no?
