76c whilst a tad warm is fine, modern gfx cards can handle a lot higher temps than the cpu can. For example my 1900xtx idles at near on 60c though i have setup ati tool to keep the fan speed low whilst idleing and load temps are around 80ish or higher as it drops pretty rapidly once i finish gaming, if your worried get a zalman or arctic cooler for it either of those should keep it nice and cool.

76C with the fan maxed out?...... still a bit high in my book.

I'm getting 65C idle with my x1800 with the fan at 20 - 30%.

its an nvidia - if you got the new drivers they \"tune down\" the GPU at 145 degrees... to \"prevent damage\" to the card...

So 76 seems fine - my 6600gt fan is blocked by my watercooler partially

need a bigger case but aria dont have the one i want and its £100 !...

mine gets up to about 80 ish on bf2 aswell :P if yours croaks mine will probably go first.. especially because its FRENCH

Just put some arctic silver down on my x1800 and my idle is 51-53C with load at 70-80C depending on the game. Its the stock cooler though so its not exactly brilliant, but the AS5 did help.

Eight gallons of chip fat and an aquarium are what you need

You seen that video too, it's class.

I can't find the video of it but there is a little info here for those that don't know of it.

With the right processor and peripherals you can have fried chicken wings and chips in no time too! :P

Which reminds me, there used to be a video of some bod frying an egg on top of his CPU which was doing the rounds a while ago...

Oeufs à la Prescott...

My socket A athlon was running 110C without my knowledge, I only found out when the system started to crash. I changed the heatsink and the cpu return to 40c at idle. The fan was working on the other heatsink, but for some reason it wouldn't cool very well. I even replaced the thermal compound with no affect.
