View Full Version : Why are we NOT complaining about FIFA?

I am surprised by you all.

FIFA today voted with an overwhelming majority to continue with a ridiculous vote to get Sepp Blatter back in, then voted something like 186 votes for and only 17 against him continuing a president.

For those that don't know, FIFA are being investigated into a number of allegations of bribary and corruption with regards to recent world cup bids.
Of note, one member of FIFA apparently told someone from the FA that they would only vote for the English world cup bid if he was given a knighthood by the queen. Another apparently asked for several hundreds of thousands of pounds to be "donated" to the TV station he owned.

Sepp Blatter is facing some serious investigations, and everyone has backed him up.
You can't help thinking its because they all want to continue taking bribes:ninja:

I also think that the English FA are going to get no favours at all now for standing up against him.

We can do nothing about FIFA. They are virtually untouchable. However, they rely on sponsorship money from really big firms like Pepsi and Adidas.
I am boycotting both these companies. I know that will really have them quaking in their boots, but its the only thing I can do.

Because fifa is the most corrupt thing in the world. We seen that with the worldcup vote. Sepp Blatter just wants whats best for himself.

The problem is also with our FA.

FA could stand for something else regarding them. The reason why they have had little support from other football bodies is that they are coming off as extremely hypocritical.

Firstly they decided to abstain from voting, abstaining is always a weasels way out of not having the balls to say no.

Secondly, a few months ago an organisation called ChangeFIFA contacted the English FA and others to say they were putting a candidate forward to bring changes to FIFA including sorting out what we are now seeing in the news. The English FA refused to back any other candidate, knowing full well that it left Sepp Blatter and that Bin Hammam as the only candidate. Yes, the ChangeFIFA candidate won't have won but it would have sent a firm message that a candidate wanting change would have support.

Thirdly, a England friendly was promised against Thailand, before England lost the 2018 bid. This friendly was solely to get the Thailand FIFA delegate to vote for England's bid. We lost so the game is against Switzerland instead.

I agree FIFA need sorting, but when we have an organisation as useless and gutless as the FA, we need to get our own house in order first.

Why complain when you have no power or say at all. If you complain you are attacked by the bribery loving cronies.

Unless the major footballing powers (England, Germany, France, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Russia, USA etc) withdraw from FIFA nothing will change except how good they become at covering their tracks in future.

If Bin Hammam had managed to stand at the election it would have been a choice between the Briber & the Bribee, not exactly an inspiring choice.

The big companies are getting *****d off now anyway, Germany have started throwing their toys out of the pram... sooner or later they will just create their own new Fifa.

The problem is; too many small and unimportant countries have too much say in what goes on in the world of Football, the only real way to settle it would be plateaus of power, with the sorting changed based on how well each countries footballing teams perform each year.

Simples! :chuckle:

it seems to be the widely accepted belief that they are all a bunch of crooks, and fairly untouchable ones at that.

It's difficult to do that with us we are just normal people with no power in our hand. Seem likes it's only thing can deal with it is the money. Now in this vice circle is a business it's not just only sport anymore. Agree or not?

The FA abstained because they werent voting against Blatter, they wanted a postponement until there was someone to stand against him.

I am unsure how people think our stand will not be good for us, in essence there isnt really a lot they can do to us is there? Its not like we are bidding for a World Cup is it!

Its a bit of a farce allowing such a position to be voted in without opposition though, and it really should of been postponed until the current investigations are cleared up, or someone stands against him.

The one thing I found amusing though was that it was a secret ballot - lol whats that all about?

If the UK media and the FA kept their noses out of FIFA's business and stop trying to be the police of the world we would have had the world cup to look forward too.

Most of these organization are just as bad a fifa if not worst..

They'll all corrupt. Unfortunately football apears to think it can regulate itself; it plainly can't.

Our FA are just useless; our embarrassment by the Germans at th elast world cup has not been addressed. Clubs are spending money they don't have and are being milked by foreign businessmen. because the sweet FA get money they don't care.

Now if only the UEFA Financial Fair Play system would stop Barcelona & Real Madrid getting 12x or greater TV money in Spain compared to the rest of the league.

The FA would have had to spend more than it's budget in bribes to get even half the votes needed, if they could get any more at all.

I once went to a Liverpool game many years ago and walked out after about 30mins because i was cold and my atari was more fun
