Put it back on superspecial. Go on, you know you want to, I'm hovering above the 'buy' button right now...

cost price has gone up for all retailers i think, weak dollar to pound and I think they are becoming scarse in terms of new stock.

dont think we've got enough stock in for it to be super specialled

:( Are the current Q6600 good overclockers? I see a review (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Intel+Core+2+Quad+-+Q6600++-+95W+-+OEM+?productId=28805)saying they arent so good anymore, any truth to that?

I need to get it to 3.2GHZ to even start to justify replacing my E6750 which I'm selling to my bro.

EDIT: Although at the moment I'm having that Dual vs Quad dilema.

the current one's are not great clockers apparently seen more than one reviewer who has said that, still might get one at the end of the month though !

Stock is running low not enough of them for superspecials :(

I think I'm going to go for an E8400 as I am purely gaming. Then in a years time upgrade to a Q9950 as they will be cheaper by then I hope.

Cheers guys.

So whats the chances of an E8400 on superspecial in the next few days? :P

E8400 More Ghz at stock, cooler, better FSB and better tech (45nm)

is capable of more raw bus/clock mhz along with a better cache setup which will help you get more performance per mhz clocked

Realistically by the time games start making use of quad cores I will stick it on the Bay of E and buy Q9550 for peanuts as they will be old tech

Its really only the heat and overclocking potential I'm interested in.

I intend to upgrade about every year so I'll see what the state of multi-threaded gaming is then and make a decision.

heat isnt really an issue with wolfdales, mine can do 4ghz under a freezer pro, but its 10c hotter under load than the ifx.

dont give it much more than 1.4v for 24/7 or it will deteriorate much faster.

Excellent. 1.4v is the most I would consider putting through my E6750, I'll probably try and see what I can do at stock voltage first.

I have now ordered it along with a 1GB Micro SD card for my phone, a couple of 120MM dust filters (just to see what they are like, only cheap) and a new sata optical drive (my current IDE one has trouble reading some DVD's that I know work fine on my housemates).
