While this thread serves as a heads-up, this is also the chance to throw ideas at me and pt- with what you'd like to see on Tuesday!

Do it in categories (i.e. this Tuesday could be Motherboard, next Tuesday could be Processors). Would help sustain activity, instead of smash & grabbing on one day.

AMD 6950's/6970's pwetty pwease.
I don't recall ever seeing much in the way of networking devices and/or upgrades on Super. They are a nice thing to upgrade, doesn't involve a system change and could go quite well.
What's available in terms of homeplugs etc, with more internet connected devices in the home, sell on that basis :)

27-05-11, 20:12
Fractal R3 and Corsair H60 or Corsair H70 please!
I think it'd be good to see a nice, surprising, non-coputer related item up for grabs, just like the giant lollipops a while back. Maybe this time, to celebrate the World record, something Jaffa cake related?
Or one of those giant inflatable hammers, or an Airfix kit of Aria's motorbike.
 Idea:
Put an item on the site called a goodybag at a set price and chuck together a load of random stock into the bag up to the value of the goodybag price.
You could put a novelty item up (like the lollipop mentioned above) with a price of £5, then put this towards your charity fund?

I want an Aria t-shirt!

That's why, from a comp[any's point of view, it's best to do it during the week. I imagine this place is swarming on a weekend, meaning more discounted products sold = less profit.

I'm edging away from a new case simply because I really don't need one but I'll be purchasing a new Z68 board today for sure as my P67 has to go back and I'm not waiting around.

I think that's all specials for today.
BD is only a week from now, a good cool off period ei. :)
What would be nice would be a no VAT day on everything ... aria would still earn a profit too as more people would buy things they would normally hold off on, but here's dreaming.

You realise the margin that Aria are working with?
But they would still earn a profit irrespective of profit margins.
But they would still earn a profit irrespective of profit margins.
And how would they do that if they sell it at a loss?

You sure its not because its Lunchtime. They did say 10am to 6pm
Ermm, I'll let you think about that one ;) I don't need to spell it out for you and leave it at that.

It looks like I was right about the Bulldozer. Save my cash until I figure out if my current AM3/880 chipset will cope with bulldozer then upgrade from the 555 I'm running now.
But they would still earn a profit irrespective of profit margins.
I think my brain just melted.

I certainly hope this is just appetiser. 10am to 6pm could probably mean the sale's valid period. Prove me wrong and bring on the main course and desert!! Aria :D

Hopefully they've been saving the AMD & other good stuff until later in the day.
Wish they post up the stuff altogether then I can put it in my basket and pay. Have to wait for each item coming on, some of us have lifes outside the pc/web. :P

Can you give us an example of how this would work?
Can you give us an example of how this would work?
Quite clearly margins in components have gone up considerably since I last saw a distributors price sheet. Like 4x as much.
Can you give us an example of how this would work?
i think he means that for example....
aria buy their product for £50 (inc/ex VAT), sell at £100 (inc/ex VAT).
if they sold ex VAT, they would sell for £~£83.30
in which case they would still make £33.30 profit.
i think thats what he means :)!
if only margins were that good...

Nice margins. I would guess it would be something like this (although even that margin may be too optimistic):
Aria buy for £100 + VAT = £120.00
Sell to the customer for £120 + VAT = £144
VAT is not included in a profit and loss so Aria's profit here would be £20
Doing a VAT free offer, if Aria were to sell for £120, that would be a nett figure of £100.00. Meaning Aria would be selling this at exactly the price they paid for it. No business can do that and survive.
A lot of people forget the VAT and that you do not include VAT in profit calculations.
Ok - so what happens if we plug in the realistic margins of between 1-5% on those equations? Bearing in mind that those margins are on the price it costs to buy the item. It doesnt include other overheads such as business rates, wages, electricity bills etc..
are the payday tueday deals located under today only area on website?
Have a look in the Deals section of the main forum :)

Exactly. Add in overheads and you will start to lose money very fast.
Here's an indication at 5%.
Aria buy for £100 + VAT = £120.00
Sell to the customer for £105 + VAT = £126
VAT is not included in a profit and loss so Aria's profit here would be £5
Doing a VAT free offer, if Aria were to sell for £105, that would be a nett figure of £87.50. Meaning Aria would be selling this at a loss of £12.50.
