I've got one but it's too big to fit on anyones screen, even those with dual 24" setups lol... plus it's not the best pic...
Its of Stockport/Manchester/Oldham/Hyde/Ashton and is about 4000pixels wide...
I would do but then so much detail would be lost :D
Better to loose some detail in scaling it down, than loose ALL the detail by not posting it at all.. ;)
lol, I'll see what I can do, was taken a couple of years ago when I wasnt so experienced.
is it loads of seperate pics stitched together?
yup, from memory is about 9 or 10 pics
Ah thats cool.. I did some like that when I was in Bosnia a few years ago, but they didnt come out so well.. I'm just trying to find somewhere to upload a couple of pics I took this summer.. I'll post back in a bit! :)
hopefully i've still got the originals then I can edit them and recreate the panorama :)
some great software called autostitch does it all for you :)
Ok, here they are.. This was a sunset that happened on the first night I was in Croatia this year. These photos were straight off the camera - no photoshopping at all - the only thing I did was reduce the size of them. It was a pretty amazing sunset! :)

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w19/adunne_2007/croatia1.jpg
but software like that can make good panoramas with good pictures... they arent the best pictures :(
stunning sunsets! did you use a tripod or night mode?
some great software called autostitch does it all for you :)
The only problem is that my photos were taken on a normal 35mm camera, and I cant remember which order the photos go in
some good colouring there!
I have this (http://jon390.fotopic.net/p41831519.html) picture blown up to A2 in my living room :)
stunning sunsets! did you use a tripod or night mode?
No - didnt have time to set anything on the camera before the sunset disappeared, and didnt have a tripod with me.. Just opened the lens and took the photos! :)
some good colouring there!
I have this (http://jon390.fotopic.net/p41831519.html) picture blown up to A2 in my living room :)
I noticed that one when I had a look at your gallery - I like.. 350D is about 8mp image size isnt it? Does it do A2 prints pretty well?
it is 8mp with the same sensor as it's bigger brother the 30D... A2 is nothing for the 350D, can go bigger!
What's the most you reckon you could push it to without loosing quality?
well from what I've read most people say 12"x18" but thats around A3 size, but I have no problems with it being A2, may even push it up to A1 if I could afford to
can you reccomend anywhere to get pics blown up to wooden frame canvas style? good price and service?
That was my next question..
erm not off the top of my head... cant remember where I had mine done but it cost about 8-9quid inc p&p but it was done quite a while back
Thats a really good price!
Jessops online have 20" (slightly smaller than A1) prints for 16.99, they do canvas too
£8-9 including postage is a SNAP! LOL
(see what i did there?)
what size do you reckons 6mp would blow up to?
Very good :)
should go up to A3 easily :)
£8-9 including postage is a SNAP! LOL
(see what i did there?)
That was shocking....
jessops add 1.99 p&p but you can collect in the store which is quite handy
£8-£9 was including wooden frame thingy?
oh sorry, mine is just on glossy paper... i added a frame to it later
Thats where it starts to get costly.. A 16"x24" canvas print and wooden thing is £60 from jessops..
you can get paper that looks like canvas though
Just slightly back on topic, I took this one when I was in Venice on the way back from Croatia.. Its not really a landscape, but I quite like it :) Just a shame that the boats arent gondolas in this one..
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w19/adunne_2007/0f76d642.jpg
I've got another few nice ones of Venice that i'll try and find..
looks like tomb raider 1!

Has anyone tried doing HDR photography? There are some amazing examples online.. Its basically, taking a series of different exposures to pick up as much of the dark and light areas of the picture, and then combine them all to make a single photo.. I havent quite managed to get up to that standard, but this is my best attempt:

Just make sure you have a good tripod and the clouds arent moving  although I did it with one photo where there was a road in it, and the moving cars gave an interesting effect

Anyone seen the film "Dead Mans Shoes"?
i'm pretty sure its abandoned now, but watched over by an angry farmer who loves to tote his shotgun at any sign of curious explorers!
Never stopped me an the missus from exploring :P

This is the photo i am probably most proud of, i was on a boat cruising down the Nile taking pics of the sunset when this boat came by and i just snapped it on the spur of the moment. I have a cropped (centre half) print out of it hanging on the wall i like it that much.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/mac124/DSCF0872.jpg
That is really stunning! It makes me a little envious! Well done!
Here's where mac would get some rep. But I cant :(
:( ah well c'est la vie, maybe Jon can change it in some way so we can rep more often, i'll have to have a word.
Stunning pics!Thankyou :) Although, it was pretty much 75% to do with the sun, 20% to do with the camera and about 5% to do with my actual ability to take photos  :D
keep the landscapes coming :)

403 here too
I've changed the link now, I uploaded it to photobucket but it doesnt have the full sized image :(
Go to this page:
http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1661371
And then click on the small version of the picture, and it will load the full size one. The server just doesnt allow links from external websites and google images is one of them :)
I actually saved the image to my desktop and uploaded it to photobucket
oh ok - what did you mean about it not having the fullsize image?
the image on photobucket is the image you see on the post above, on my machine it is much bigger
I thought thats what you meant.. Thats what I was meaning - if you go to the page i posted, then you can see the full size image.. I think we're just both trying to do the same in different ways
ahhh well doesnt matter really :)
Just had another play with making some HDR images of photos I took today.. Still nowhere near as good as some of the really good examples, but I quite like this one.

HDR:
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w19/adunne_2007/EHHDR.jpg
What do you use to do that?
photoshop imports raw for it.
Yeah.. But the easier way is a program called Photomatix. You can get more varied results in photoshop, but photomatix generally gets the same as the best result you'd get in photoshop. Much quicker too..
Im going to try doing some HDR at some point
Sure i've heard that before somewhere..
i'm going to try it when I get chance
Sure i've heard that before somewhere..
as long as JW is with his missus he will never get chance :chairfall:
stop misquoting me guys! :P
Who misquoted you?!
you did... i wrote i'm going to try HDR sometime, you quoted I'm going to try *it* sometime :P
That was a direct quote from this thread, using the quote button!

They look better bigger, I think :)
I still need to work out the settings on my cam to try and get the 3 shots for hdr stuff lol
run down the 3 different shots I need to do a HDR shot??
ps. pic looks cracking
Its basically a number of different exposures. Mine has a setting which will take a burst of 3 shots at +1.0, 0.0 and -1.0 - thats ok for a starter and to get your head around it or just for a quick shot, but I find it doesnt always give as much depth as you need.. The way I do it is:
1) Find a solid surface or use a tripod
2) Make sure the camera won't move each time you press the shutter button - I do this by tightening everything on the tripod, and then setting a 2 second timer. The camera will always move slightly when you press the shutter, so the 2 second delay give everything a chance to settle back before the picture is taken.
3) I tend to use 4 or 5 different exposures, by changing the shutter speed. Normally I'll go from something like a 1sec shutter, through to 1/1600 - 1/2000 ish, but obviously that needs to be adapted on the day.
The 3 key things are making sure that the camera doesnt move between shots, getting a good range of exposures and then picking the right photos to use. You don't have to use all the photos you take :)
makes sense you get all the best bits out of each colour range in the final pic.
I really like HDR shots, some people are really against them. For what reason i'm not sure?
I think my camera has a shutter speed program, specifically for doing the above adjustments.
This other program which makes it easier than photoshop is it free?
erm.. it can be. But no...
Not brilliant but a quick panorama (without tripod). From my holiday last weekend at Presthaven Sands in North Wales

I think thats pretty damn good actually! :)
i need to re-do it as the sea should have been at the left and not the right, thanx guys!

Ha ha ha.. you fools.
The picture was a joke and i do have 2 motorbikes... the 100 yamaha my dad is selling cos im gonna be using the honda 500 soon
pic of you on the bike with a copy of todays paper! or it didn't happen :D
Yeah yeah, whatever... besides its not possible
I may be going back to my parents some week soon, when I do ill get a picture of them both
So when you say you have 2 bikes, technically its not true is it? ;) :D
It still is at the moment, one of my bikes ill be selling or giving to the missus :P
And the other ill be rebuilding the engine, or should I say my dad will cos its at my parents in the garage with the rest of my dads bikes :P
So ill be getting the honda 500 on the road this year sometime when I have enough dollar
I'd really like to get a bike.. Just for local journeys, and the odd proper road trip. The roads around here are pretty good - I think it'd be so much fun!
How much does it cost to get a bike licence these days?
Probably the same as it does a car?
Take the CBT before being allowed to ride on the road, take a few lessons, take your test (dependant on which test you take) restricted to a 30hp bike for a couple of years, get a unrestricted bike.
Least thats how it used to be??
I think your about right, CBT is about £90 I think, and your theory is about £50
And your bike bike test is like £150 last time I heard :(
If you pass your theroy test to take a car test would you have to do it again for a bike test, assuming you do it within the 2 year period the theory test is valid for?
Nope, if you've already done it and are on the road in a car you just have to do your full nike test, i beleive so anyway.

a lot of guys already pass the Nike test round here, they just tuck there tracksuit bottoms into their socks
Ha ha ha... didn't notice that
