View Full Version : Maxtor HDD Catches Fire
Well, presuming it's legit - Jesus CHRIST...
That's ACTUALLY insane.
Wow... maybe i should check mine as mine had a
\"it said NTLDR not found,\" error - seagate (same Co. so what can ya do :) )
looks nasty - and its not just Dell batterys- Apple recalled some too because SONY batteries are the bad ones - if you own a lappy check the battery brand :)
Another reason to avoid Maxtors, LOL... but any silicon chip can short and overheat, resulting in that sort of event once in a blue moon, and the odds are that it wasn't Maxtor who manufactured that part anyway
anyone that uses maxtors gets what they deserve!! seagates for me alll the way, never had a prob with them in all my years of pc`ing :)
Yeah, I have seen this kind of fault before ( I used to work in Supplier Returns so I got to see all kinds of faults ), not just with Maxtors but Maxtor would replace whereas other companies would start arguing that the end user damaged the drive.
BTW it never put me off Maxtors, I have bought many Maxtor Drives, even after seeing this kind of fault, which is usually a DOA , i.e. if its going to happen it does so soon after install

Same here till a few weeks back.
Still going to stick with Seagate though, but i will be trying the Hitachi's again.
:)
Seagate Bought Maxtor, you can now get Maxtor Drive which have
\"Manufatured by Seagate\" on them, they come in Seagate Casing with Seagate Labels But are Maxtor Branded and have both Maxtor and Seagate Model Numbers.
