After all that, new lead etc etc etc... i took a power feed for the gpu from optical drive supply rather than hdd and all seems to be ok... Thanks so much for your opinions wonder or i probably would have replace everything without thinking about power issues. Fingers crossed its long term solution. :):mrgreen::)

Does your PSU not have a dedicated PCI-E power plug?

I personally have never owned an AGP card that needed extra power....
So I forgot and thought/assumed you meant PCI-E!
(most powerful AGP card I had was a ati 9600 PRO)

Yuppo looking all good :) will defo come back to you guys when looking to upgrade. Think ill look to see the 775 prices come down though rather than going for the new tech att the moment. Still interested in jons thread about new intels though :)

well I will certainly add that to my knowledge base.
with the advent of PCI-E I think we tend to forget about the way some older tech is connected.
The AGP card i bought for my pc needed a seperate power lead,
Still havnt sent that back yet
I doubt they will let me
