Amahi Home server - Will it run under Virtual box on Win7 (x64)

I'm using vmware on 64 bit windows 7 and it really runs everything great. Virtualisation is definately a good option now that windows 7 is here.

You can pretty much install any x86 compatible OS on Virtualbox no problem. Obviously the major ones have the guest additions but you should still be able to get something up. Just give it a go see what happens.

Yep I did do that and it worked great, sadly amahi you had to pay for some apps so it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be ;(

Ah, that's no good. I'm sure there must be a FOSS offering somewhere, guess it depends on what you want to do.

I actually have PS3 media server running on a win 7 VM which connects to movie files on the network (at 1Gb speeds), does all the transcoding to my PS3s and it works fantastically, without breaking sweat even if I only assign it 2 cores. Having said that, now that app is out of beta, I'll probably install it on the host OS now...
