Gladiator Core i3 540 4.40GHz Overclocked Bundle

Will I be okay to load XP Pro onto this system. Will XP see the sata HD, or will I have to creat a floppy with the sata drivers on.

Your thoughts on the old chestnut XP v win7. Good old XP is slowly going out of the picture.

I use photoshop/video, do not play games?

Sorry, I am newbie!

It should be ok, make sure the disc has at least service pack 2 on it to recognise newer hardware.

I have XP Pro with SP3 on one CD. Perhaps that'll do the job? I will be using the i3-540 OC bundle with a sata HD.

As you will know, somethimes while loading XP, the CD will not see some sata HDs. It's a really pain having to download sata drivers and install them onto a floppy.

Unsure if the boys on this forum are still with XP and perhaps have gone for Win7? However, I'm a newbie and dont' want to open up old scares...XP v Win7:eek:

you should be ok, use the os you are more comfortable using.

jackuk - thanks for coming back.

I have used XP for many years, they will have to drag me off kicking and screaming off XP. However, one day, the day will come......!

I'm using both XP and win 7, and sata HDD/SSD. Dont remember being asked to install SATA driver. I have only SP2 disc. So, I think it'll work for you.

p.s. welcome to the forum.

remember that not all 4GB will be recognised/used by a 32-bit OS, so if possible get the 64-bit version of xp pro or use windows 7 64-bit as video editing can take up a lot of memory

you will have no problems, the only probs you ever have with xp is sound and video drivers really but the motherboard disk you get with that bundle contains everything so your ok, but yes using 32bit OS only gives you 3.2 of the 4 in ram but cant see you having any issues anyway m8 tbh just use both xp and win7

IIRC, service pack 2 and later has SATA drivers..

I'd honestly consider win7 though, I have XP at work, win7 at home and i hate XP!
