I am getting them parts in 2 weeks time after finally making my mind but here is my dilema

A few weeks later i am upgrading my gfx card from ATi 4870 but i am unsure if my current PSU can handle the 2 cards i am interested in

I am preture sure my PSu can deal with a 560Ti as it a constant 600w max 700w but i am usire if it will handle a 570

I am not looking to crossfire as the PSU will be upgraded but not for some time so do you think my PSu should be able to handle a 570 with the above parts

Additional hardware installed

Single Monitor, TV, Dvd Burner, Keyboard/mouse, 500gb+250gb hard drives

Thank you for your time inadvance

Your psu does not have the greatest 12v Amperage and a high spec GPU would put it under a lot of strain. You would benefit from investing in a decent Psu from the start and building the system around that. A 650W corsair would provide sufficent 12v (53A) Amperage with its large single rail. Your Psu uses 3 single rails with quite low ratings.
Personally the Psu is the most important part of the system, your current Psu will more than likely work but I would upgrade now to save hassle in the future. A TX650 is £68.70 if your spending £500-600+ it makes no sense to ignore the Psu..

I have the same PSU and I would suggest you upgraded it, its a fairly old design. I know because I need to do the same sometime :P

Ok so do i need to upgrade my psu but i knew that allready but i didnt know i needed to get it before my gfx card

Sparky from what your saying is that it will work with my ATi 4870 but i will need to replace my psu before i get my new gfx which i can live with.

I only have a finite budjet for this purchase so if i can delay getting a new psu for a couple of weeks i would be extremly happy other wide i will have to comprimises on the hardware i have all ready select to accomodate the PSU

Si huess my question now really is will my psu do the job with the new parts on the bases i upgrade my psu soon after and before i get a new gfx card

I can live without the gfx card for a few more weeks as my old system i am using now plays the games without any issues

I would say you should upgrade your PSU with the new system, but leave out the graphics card upgrade for now. Its a toughie, the PSU would probably be fine with the 4870 and your new CPU and mobo but a graphics card would seriously push it, especially as these PSU's stopped selling a couple of years ago, so its a few years old therefore it won't be able to output as much as it used to.

My suggestion would be is forget about the new card for now but upgrade the PSU instead. Do you want modular or non modular? Once you've saved up again for the graphics card once you have your new PSU then go for it then.

Why don't you get a PSU now instead of the SSD and then pick up the SSD when you get your new graphics card.. ?

Th reason i am not getting the psu right away and the ssd instead is the the cost of the PSU will push me well over my budget and i will have the drop the quality of the parts so far down i might as well drop the quality and spec on every part. so as u can see i am in a total dilema

The PSU i am getting is 1000W Corsair HX Series Modular ATX2.2 at £174 as this will power the 2x 570 and a 460 768mb as a dedicated physx card. I fully understood i needed a new PSU and this was factored within my pricing plans but just not something i can get right away becase the cost is far greater than what i pay out in the first run

My intentions was to get the parts above followed by 1 of the gfx cards then the psu but i now fully understand i need the psu before i get the new gfx card but i can push off the PSU for a couple of weeks i can have the pc i have in mind

I basicly play the one game because i am hooked and that is Rift and my current quad core oc @ 3ghz with 4gb of ram and the 4870 plays the game perfectly with an average of 45 fps so how is this for a comprimise betwwen all the ideas. I am going to assume that the overclock is saved in the EFI setting so just to be on the same side so if set the EFI to the defualt setting to reduce power consuption would this give the couple of weeks i need to get the PSU.

At the end of the day if i have no choice but to get PSU now i will have to reduce all the parts as my budget is £550 for my first upgrade installment but i am deperate to hold off a couple weeks and would 100% get the PSU as my next purchase

Hre is why i am so confused about all this

MY PSu gives out a constant 600w and a max of 700w (all though i dont wanna test it). My 4870 use approx 283w and the 570 used 330w approx so the difference in power use had me worried but this where iam confused my current q6600 oc@3.0 4gb of Geil ram running oc@800mhz now from what i can tell the new cpu ram and mothboard use lower voltage than my current hardware even no clocked so from what your saying is instead of using less than the current max available of 317w available for the rest of the pc componants is going be eaten by the new hardware that is supposed to use less power

Now i will be honest and admit i am dyslexic so might have read the information but i am so deperate to not comprimise on the parts i have fallen in love with i am realy trying to find out all the answers now before i place my order on the 1st

It will all fit together fine although as stated previously consider ordering a new PSU with this order, if your desperately wanting this new setup then order now and get the PSU then GPU later.
